    What is the gear ratio inside your custom cast gear box.? One half of the stock Model S TESLA gear reduction was 3.12 to one, or 3.12 x 3.12= 9.73 total gear reduction for the Model S.

  • @Roadstercycle

    3.12, used the first 2 gears. Elimnated the differential gear which would have went to 9.73. So now it's 3.12 x the differential ratio you are using. So 3.12 x 3.56 = 11.1. Should be insane in the 1/8 mile and autocross.

    @@Roadstercycle, It definitely will be traction limited in its performance. Any thoughts of creating a product to sell using your casting. TESLA gears, bearings and shafts?

    I’m thinking of converting my old dodge to an electric car do you have any idea what it would cost, mainly planning on making it quick but also for long distance travel

  • @Roadstercycle

    @Roadstercycle

    So you have to decide quick or long distance. Quick= 450lbs of batteries, Long Distance means 900lbs of batteries. Small motor or big motor? My guesstimate if you do your homework you could do it for $25 to $30 thousand. If you do it all yourself and use a base Tesla Large motor.

    I think for my purposes I’d pick long distance on a big motor

    Then your talking about 16 Tesla modules or a full model3 pack.
