I expected I would need less than 4L of oil when I did the oil change (specs from dry are 4.2). But after settling it eventually needed exactly 4 liters. I think these engines run the smoothest if oil is at or just below max line.
Better not overfill, or max it on the dipstick. I suggest between the minimum and max of the dipstick so in the middle of it, feels different from too much oil. Morr smooth performance when goin 0-100 , less lag and also lighter power. Cheers just an opinon of me having a polo too
