I have a 2000 Volkswagen Passat that I purchased 6 year ago . Had 72000 miles now at 195000 . I have replaced a lot of major parts like transmission abs brakes front suspension starter motor mounts and it has an oil leak . Still driving and love it .

i have a golf mk3 tdi and it was originally 90ps and 210nm torque with it, ridiculous!!! circa 10sec to 100kph and 3litre/100km fuel consumption!!! i need no hybrid or whatever, vw diesel scandal? i don't care honestly, still better than any other on the market :)

Possibly MAF sensor, my passat sat for 2 years and turbo oil seals went bad so and the MAF sensor is very sensitive to oil so it broke.

Late 2004 and 2005 they had a 2.0 diesel (at least here in the US they did). As far as not knowing how to drive it lol please tell me how to drive a 130hp diesel automatic and make it seem like a rocket. Like I said, ran ok up to about 40-50 but after that it was pretty slow. Nice car though

Yes, i looked on wiki, there was in US only, 2003-2005 a 2.0l diesel 134hp. Not sold in Europe.

My opinion - B5 with 1.9 is powerfull and has low fuel consumption. It more satisfaction than 2.0 petrol or 1.8 turbo

I have this car swapped in for my mk2 focus 1.6 petrol. Reason, petrol uses a lot of fuel. 10L/100km. Its really rediculous. And diesel is only 0 .007 cents more expensive than gas

+narloch2 Lol it's not a race car. Acceleration is decent for a car like this, I don't know where you live but mostly you don't go over 120kmh except motorways so why would u need much more horsepower to get better acceleration when 1.9 TDI is pretty efficient and doesn't take a lot of fuel.

b5 or b5.5 does not have a 131ps production , only b4 has , the b5 and b5.5 is in the group with golf 5. b5 have , 90 ps , 116ps and 150ps of the 2.5 v6 tdi b5.5 , 100ps , 130ps , 150ps for the 2.5 v6 tdi and 170ps for another 2.5 v6 tdi . read in wikipedia ( i might be wrong because i know these stuff with my eyes closed ) VW PASSAT B5 in wikipedia and read the whole page then you know what im talking about

Try to convert kW to PS (1kW - 1.36PS)- 96 kW - 130.56, which is 131PS, but sometimes people said this is 130PS. 74kW is 100.64 PS, which is 101PS, but some people said it is 100 PS. Also - 2.5 TDI had 150 and 180, not 170. B5 had 90, 110, 115/116 (same situation like in 1.9 130/131 model. Convert kW to PS) and 2.5 TDI 150. B4 had only 90 and 110, and B5.5 isn't in the group with Golf 5
