I am having issues getting my existing power cable to connect to the wiring harness of the unit for power. Do i need another adapter or something?

I see a lot of comments about drained batteries and that 'the red and orange wiring connection from the wiring harness' needs to be disconnected. But I don't see this being done in the video and I don't see a clear response to any of these comment on this topic (i.e. direct to video time stamp). - Would be very helpful to have a clear explanation on this.
