Those pillars didn’t look that bad but omg how much glue from behind holding the tweeter. Remember to put the tone controls back to zero before you do the tune Peter 🤣

The first set of aftermarket tweeters sounds really clean and airy tbh I wouldn't have touched them if staying 2way but the new ones are gorgeous.

Hello Peter, I feel so accomplished right now being able to give you advice rather than just continually taking all of your knowledge for myself. VW mk7 golfs used MOST on their Fender/Dynaudio systems. Unfortunately in the USA, we don't have the mk8 yet. However I am imagining they did the exact same with the new generation. Speaker level outputs from the head unit for basic system, MOST for Fender/Dynaudio in the upper trims. However when switching between the two, you would have to use VAGCOM to program the car to use the other system.

Yes, it would need MOST150, but it’s mega money plus programming as you say. Definitely not happening for the customer at this stage, he’ll just use the HEC BT module in the DSP for better playback quality. 🔊🔊

Good stuff! Please keep this MK8 series going. I would love to watch the final product of your install, as well as hear a sound test of these speakers. Too many tubers make a video like this, and say they’ll continue the build with other videos, and they don’t. Disappointing to say the least. Please don’t be like them.

Great work Peter. Always enjoy your clip… btw do you advise running all mono block amplifier to all the speakers since the latter is one channel. I researched online it looks like monoblock amp sound and power clarity but its costly and ideal for vehicles with more space.

I don’t see much point of monoblocks for components these days, when channel separation is not an issue like it was in 80’s.

It can have most activated regardless of it having premium audio or not. Not sure it's still most 150 or not I think vag group is going back to a lower version of most soon if not already.

Straight up knew they didn't have most optical out for this with that eq 🤣🤣

Hello Peter. Thank you for the great videos. You have helped inspire me to install a system in my MK7.5 GTI. Just a question, how robust is the factory wiring in the doors of the MK7 Golf? Could the wiring handle at least 100 watts? Keep the videos coming.

if you look at the current capacity of wire youd be surprised how much a given gauge can move. also you should have factory dual runs into the doors. which is a bonus

It's not bad, can't remember the exact gague, but stock wire also comes from under the driver's seat so not a long run. I think my 100% in normal limits calculation was ~90 watts

Get install!! BUT... as it was when it came to you, I can't believe it wasn't possible to get HU high-level into the Helix DSP, EQ flattened, speakers tuned and feed into an amp that was feeding those banded speaker in an active setup. Something's not right here, all the bones for a decent sound setup were there already. In my mind, the majority of improvement here was bypassing the HU via direct Bluetooth and tuning the DSP well. I'm crushed right now, as I installed Focal 4.320 amp with PS165 Flax Evo's front, IS165 Coax rear, and a Cerwin Vega 12" tyre sub...and it sounds terrible. Was going to add a DSP and an extra amp to go active, but this video terrifies me that it won't help.

Firstly I'd like to say I love your work, content and fully appreciate your skills.... but....I was hoping with this video and the the van you did ages ago (helix sub, you tired the i-subs in it) that you were going to use the existing equipment and merely reinstall it to get better sound rather than install a semi new system. Just to highlight how much of a difference a good installation and set up can make

It’s fully active, hence the amount of amp channels. It won’t draw more than 50-60A.

With multiple amplifiers do you upgrade the alternators?

It all depends on the system’s current draw. This won’t pull more than 50-60A amp.

Head unit is working fine? I went to a workshop and asked about installing amplifier to stock speakers, they said it will not working because of diagnsotics system in headunit. They said that there need to be installed 20Watt transistors to bypass it. Is it true? Also they said I will lost warranty after that.

Warranty loss is bullshit. If you feed the speaker level into the DSP, then that takes care of everything. Having said that, alternative source is advised as OEM is poor.

What is the best quality sound speaker? In stock I30n 2 tweters, 2 frontal speakers and 2 rear speakers

Unfortunately we have no idea as this car was built by a different shop first and they already had the speaker line extended to the underseat location. I suspect it under the dash, but i’d just take the speaker lines by the doors.

Is there a line out on the factory system, or do they take the signal from the speakers?

They may have MOST integration option, but we had no chance to investigate, so we used speaker levels for radio and OEM functions, but added secondary source.

Does the car have a clean, full range high-level signal? Does it have ANC? (Probably not since you don’t mention it) Amazing work!! 👍

How do you remove the inner plastic black panel ? I need to access the inside of the door to sound deaden. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, We didn’t deal with that on this car as the previous shop did that. Taking the inner-skin out needs a bit of experience. There are many YT videos showing it too.

You aren't missing anything. If you sat in any BMW with the medium hifi in it, you would weep at the sound coming out of the HK. I have it in my G8. The stupid kickbass in the boot has no low bass. I hate kick bass.... It is not natural. Just sound prof the doors, that will be sufficient for most peeps.

Is an Audison Connect distribution block , excellent for big projects like this when you use multiple amps. pricey for sure!

Yep, it's an Audison and quite pricey. I suggest this one from Amazon, TIYANG Camper Car Audio Distribution Fuse Block.

man you would THINK, installers would do research before tuning... or installation or something right? like...go to seminar's or watch youtube vids to get a PROPER idea on how to do installation.

Cringey! 1/2" 4'x'4 pvc board is like 30ish USD. That's less than a dollar per 1/2" ring. And the tweets, oof! Three minutes with two hole saws, some sandpaper and ya got some crude rings. Real shame that I, as a home gamer, can do a better install in a day for friends etc; than many shops here and abroad.
