Keyless entry is for all VW the same: Open: But your hand in the door handle (between handle and door) Close: wipe over the outer surface of the door handle (see the little sensor) For the ID.3 it is the same procedure

I'd love an e-Golf with double the range. Instead I'm getting a second e-Golf in November. I've learned to cope with the limited range and really love all the buttons, switches and analog dials. The VW id family, Teslas and others have too much touch! I find it way easier to take one quick look to locate a button and hit it rather than swiping through menus, searching for a soft key that activates my seat heating.

Me too! I just love the current Golf 7.5 too much... I live in Canada and we won't get the ID3, only the ID4 and even though it's technically better, I'm sure I won't like it quite as much as the E-Golf

Quirks: 3 Navigation: in the main Navi Display you can add a kind of forecast in a window that appears in the upper left corner Something like "9 km: take exit 18" 9 Tripmeters I'm not 100% sure, but there might be 2 , the one in the cockpit and the totals in the app. Not sure, cause I did not use it often for another real quirk: the trip reset is burried in one menue and hard to find. Another Quirk: rear view mirror memory weitd to program and then for usage it needs the mirror turn knob in a special position, only that particular position. If you decide to heat the mirrors now then rear view mirror memory for the sidewalk does not work if you put gear selector in Reverse. But I like the gear selector design + usability. And I can drive with one pedal if I look ahead and take care for consumption. The recuperation mode switch is intuitive too. Good evolution for people coming from an automatic gear ice car.

@@l1devil no, that is not the point, even though it is right that it works on the passenger mirrior to show the border of the sidewalk to avoid scratches in rim and tyres: it works only if the mirror switch is set to "R". If you turn that switch on mirror heating then you can put the gear lever in reverse mode but passenger mirror does not change the view to the sidewalk.

Also the consumption seems lower than normal. I drove 200 km and I have like 15% left and 30 km left on the range, while avg consumption shows 12 kw/h. If the nominal capacity is 32 kw, the range should be more or the avg consumption is wrong.

Recuperation is dependent on maximum loading capability of battery. The eGolf can only load with max. 40kW. Therefore recuperation is only max. 40kW. My longest trip was 500km (Dresden-Munich), the first 400km were ok, the remaining 100km then a real pain. But it is my city car. My 3 pros: - Noise, Quality as you described, it is a Golf - Acceleration up to 60km/h is faster than a GTI - All accessories you can by for Golf VII also fits for the eGolf. My 3 cons: - Suspension is a bit hard for me. With all the comfort and the low noise levels you want to fly and glide and then I hate to feel every hole in the road I drop into - Trafic sign recognition is not connected with speed limiter of ACC. It shows that I'm allowed to drive only 60, but ACC still runs whatever I told it hours before. - I missed to include the rear camera, didn't know how badly I need it when driving backwards to a loading station as loading port is on back right

  • @erebostd

You can connect the sign recognition with ACC. There are multiple people who do the coding. I had it done to mine when i bought it, works great (and you can configure it in the infotainment, like all the other settings). I use it every time i drive the car

@@BatteryLife when you approached the car with the keyfob in the pocket, the car detects the fob & unlocks as a single action. It will not re-lock immediately with the door handle sensor as it is anticipating an action (i.e. the door opening) to reset. If you open the door & then close it: THEN touch the sensor spot it will lock. OR another example. IF you were to have the keybob in your pocket & unlock the door on the drivers side by touching the door handle. To re-lock the car (w/o pressing the fob), walk to the passenger side & touch the door sensor on the opposite door,: the car will lock. This latter technique I use often (except the other way around) as I charge the car in my garage with the doors unlocked. When charging the charge cable locks on the car for preheat or charging or both. If I need to unplug: I walk to the drivers door & touch the sensor to lock the car. I then walk around the car & unlock at the passenger side. At which point, the charge cable locking pin will disengage.
