I am loving your videos. They really show off the difficulty of the trails (and you're doing them in 2wd? just impressive!). I hope to someday be hitting this one in my 1950s Willys. Maybe we'll see you out there ;)

Thanks! I went with the 4:12 R/P happy medium. The first gear with the 437 was the best! But, 55mph on the Hwy sucks, I go 65mph now. 🤙
So awesome what your doing here! Love the channel! Keep cruising!

Story - Back in the 1990's I would meet a guy that would drive up in a Bay Window from Mexico to the Junk Yards in Sun Valley, California every Wednesday. His VW panel had a solid rear hatch and I asked if he could get more. So he said go buy me one with a window and we'll trade. So we did that for eight hatches/trips. Back then I was pulling Bay Doors / Parts for Vintage VW Parts, Karmann Connection UK & BBT Belgium.
The best fun you can have with you clothes on ! Thank you !

Fun Trail, gnarly but fun.
Revisiting a old Vintage Overland Classic! Sure do enjoy your videos! I’m going to head out to Rattlesnake Canyon soon on the dual sport bike, thinking to connect from Pioneer Town , over to Dixie Mine Road, to the HWY and over to Rattlesnake, to RimRock and back. Your videos really inspire!!! Also, at first I really dug the rattling, noisy interior of your bus, but I think the insulation and all the work you’ve done on the interior is definitely the right move and those videos of the mods have been super cool to watch. Thanks for posting these awesome videos!!!

🙂Hey Matt! I did check out one of the Cabins and stayed the night on 2n02 in Burns Canyon. I headed to Baldwin Lake in the morning, Jumped Hwy 18 heading to Holcomb Valley Rd. Adventured through Holcomb Valley. 3n16 crossroads the Coxey truck trail I headed south for a mile or so to Yellow Post 7 campsite. In the morning headed North on Coxey to Bowen Ranch road to end a fun couple of days.

Awesome job getting your bus through that! What size tires are you running? Do you have any rubbing issues with them when you have the bus flexed out?
@VintageOverlandAdventures
4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I'm using BFG's 205 75 15 M/T , No rubbing unless I hit a trench going to fast. The front will rub on the upper wheel wells. Not much articulation in the bus, most of the time your on three wheels in the ruff stuff.
That’s awesome, Larry! Wish I was rolling with you on that one. BBQ rattler for dinner! -Kevin

My old 1957 bus had 10 inches of ground clearance and a real low first gear. Having the engine over the drive axle makes for great traction. They all had portal axles until 1968 when the body style changed. My 1970 bus had pretty good clearance too, with the cv style axles. I drove that one all over Mexico and had to retard the timing to work with that Pemex gasoline. Great memories. Thanks for the ride!
Uhhhh ............... NOPE ! Solo with a splitty, out in nowhere over rocks that big and bad ? All I can picture is the steering box crushed and ripped right off and further back your oil sump broken right out. I love a off pavement splitty adventure as much as the next guy, but know when to turn around if the risk is big damage to the bus. I love my '66 EZ camper way too much to abuse it needlessly.
@VintageOverlandAdventures
Жыл бұрын
You nailed it, sometimes you can’t turn around. The bus falls down the trail’s pretty good. Before, it was a utility shed in the backyard for shovels, rakes the lawnmower, a gas can and the dogs, Dukie shovel and pail. I think it’s happy now. ☮️ 🚐🏜️🤞🌵 her name is oOAK!

@@VintageOverlandAdventures Well, if it was a utility shed before you put it back on the road, kudos !. My EZ camper sat alongside a cabin with a bad transaxle for 17 years until I found it and rescued it. I had it on the road within a month..... that was 20 years ago. Still drive it some, but in need of a transaxle swap so its limited right now. At one time in the early 70's it crossed the colorado river where there was no bridge....... locals said they had seen guys get across without problems in lower water, but, in the middle it floated and went down river a few hunnert yards before they got a footing and crawled to shore........it took them the entire next day to cut all the small tree's and make a path back upstream to the dirt road they were originally aiming for. She told me lots of adventure stories with it from '68 thru late 70's as I bought it from her. She named it Cloud while watching clouds drift by while camping. I will never lower it or show car restore it, been there , done that with other busses.
