Here is the tool part number by CTA Tools 1437 Brake Release Tool for VW/Audi.
This should be close to the same on other VW's. Sorry about the sound I don't know what happened.

Thanks for the video. Exactly what happened to my car.
If you take the brake switch off and push the tool back and the pedal back at the same time,, It will release it.. friend just did it and you need to be A young and B limber to do it.
That bloody clip gets you every time do I have some issues with them
I have a 2005 beetle when engine is running break pedal is soft and hits the floor with hardly any breaking or it locks up the front wheels .when engine is off break pedal is normal Machanic thinks it may be the abs but I more towards mantle collider could you plz point me in right direction if you need more information although I think I’ve covered it please as I’ve not a lot of money and im not goingto get my car through it’s mot without this being fixed

It's so had to tell what's wrong with it. I would go and get a second opinion on it.
Hi. Do you remember maybe what was the old BB part number, whether it was original FTE? And which ATE part number did you change it with. I am asking because i have a 2007 jetta with an FTE BB with some part number that does not show up in any car parts shop. And I don't know which one to buy. THanks

I have a 2006 VW Beetle turbo diesel 1.9!automatic, was told that I need to change the brake vacuum pump. What should I expect to pay to have this changed?

Hello there I have a code under the air bag light that appears to be the brake booster control module and then under the automatic transmission I have another code for brake control.module But it does not have a code under the brake light, so I am a little confused here why do you think it shows this problem under othe monitors but not the brake system itself, any help would be really appreciate it and thanks in advance .

Hi! I have the same sound on Beetle 2002 but when I release the brake pedal. In services masters told me that it is ok for this model, it than true?

If you have power assist then it should be ok. It you do not then the booster needs to be replaced
Good access on the LHD then. On the RHD it's stuck behind the engine!

Your retainer had one clip broken off. You did not replace it?

No I could not get one. But it still locked in and would not come. It fits super tight. Thanks for watching
