Very good video. Installation of pushrods once the guide plates are centred while case is apart can be helpful to ensure every clearance is spot on. Also Installation of distributor drive, shim, spring, distributor before crankshaft is installed can be helpful too. Just install with the #1 rod up and that makes it a simple thing too with zero chances of mis-indexing etc. Not essential but might help out others.

I bought a 58 bug with a 36 horse. Replaced the left head and a bent pushrod. drove a 146,000 trouble and leak free miles when it finally left the fleet. only mod was an old nos Abarth muffler. I was a fool to sell it.

I am trying to set the cam timing according to the card. With the 4 degree advance washers , I can only get 8 degree BTC. At .040. Will the engine run right like this and How much performance will I loose ? What do you think ? On your video , you are measuring it on the #2 cylinder, intake lobe. I tried it on the number 1 and 2 cylinder. I got the same reading.

My first cam from them I sent back the holes where drilled off center try it with the stock gears if it reads correct its the straight cut gear if still off cam is off

@@russellp1982 Roger that. I think it is the cam. Depending where I put the dial indicator on the cam lobe, on the inner, center or outer, I get different readings. Sometimes it will show 8 degrees , 10 degrees or even 12 degrees BTC. And this is with the 4 degree advance washers on the cam gear. I wonder how it will run if I leave it ? I’ve been scratching my head. WTF ? 😂

Question: I am attempting to build my 36hp to the Okrasa upgrade. I ordered the head and carb kit from Wolfsburg west along with the 81mm piston kit. Can use also the 69.5mm crank with these pistons ? And also use my stock rods ?

@@jessnevares7861 yes you have to check clearance on the rods and piston skirts but they will work they were made for it
