Heartsteel artists did amazing! Baekhyun was definitely on fire🔥 But I do agree with you that the AR animation was too stiff, it was overall not a great quality which is a shame 🫤

It's unfortunate but it's the risk they took so I'll give them that. I absolutely loved the energy that the Heartsteel crew gave, I had just wished their mics were being picked up clearer on the livestream because I know they can sing these parts well!

I haven’t seen many ppl talk about it, but about the RISE part, it was teased by Telle & Mako on Twitter in October, Mako was going through his old RIOT files where he’d do orchestral versions of all the Riot songs he’s written & demo’d just for himself & shared some & Telle couldn’t get over it & went crazy for the RISE orchestral one mako put on twitter

Really! I had no idea and I'm usually one who keeps myself in the loop for these types of sneak peeks. There's been teasers of other artists who have gone to Riot (such as Ateez) that were a potential rumor to have been involved in the show but it was just an astonishment that they hadn't announced any performing act besides New Jeans and Heartsteel before this event! That's really cool though, I'm going to have to check out the posts on twitter!

Personally i’m going to defend the Pentakill 3 livestream which you brought up during the video. You have to remember that it was a 1h45 minutes of interactive motion captured concert during one of the most complicated times for video game company’s, i also think most fans don’t really cared about the quality of the animation because pentakill’s return was already unexpected due to all the more popular and bankable bands riot was creating at the time

yea i agree the AR looked off. it didnt mesh with real life well. it is new tech and its a learning experience. the songs were good but it wasnt top tier. i do hope they release that slow version of rise cause that was cool like what they did with warriors. i will still say 2019 is my fav. 2 and 3 switch for me depending on my mood (2018 and 2021).

100% agreed! Even when it was first introduced in earlier worlds events it was still unrefined so I don't doubt there would still be issues even today. I also really hope they release the slowed down version of Rise! It was absolutely delightful to hear it and genuinely a remix I'd love to listen to often. I have a bias to love 2018 because of FNC but I think every Worlds Opening had their own charm to it that made it stand out from the rest, except for 2020 but we don't talk about that year. 😂

It sounded like they forgot (or something broke) to feed the sound through the broadcast and the sound was broadcast through the arena

the problem with the animation is that it has to be rendered live (like a game) which limits how good it can look, especially stuff like lighting.

Just a bit curious here but did you watch the T1 vs WBG / T1 vs JDG teaser because i felt that it was riot best work yet

I definitely watched both teasers! Riot continues to amaze people with their award winning storytelling and it SHOWS. It gets people invested in teams and players they never might have cared for and that's how it's something that played so well into last year's finals as well!

It's so sad to see the Trophy like this but this was the decision Riot Games made so.. Hopefully the sponsorship money they obtained for this collaboration w/ Tiffany and Co was worth it.

Aside the performance t1 and faker never defeat by lpl teams they literally knockdown the 4 lpl teams but the true finals is t1 vs jdg

I don't think any kind of story narrative can take that away from T1 or JDG at all given the way the teasers had played out the storyline. This year was the domination of T1 to ensure the T1 > all LPL teams storyline but with it being a near stomp at finals, it's no wonder why people still look to 2022 as the best World Championship Finals of all time.

tbh there was alot scuffed in this opening ceremony, tbh alot of riots opening ceremonies havnt felt good since 2019 was it, 2020 was compltely scuffed with the models and animation, and thats waht this worlds opening ceremony reminded me of, even watching it live the sound quality was completely scuffed, animation for the models not good at all looked very fuzzy, idk whats going on with riot but things have not been looking good for them for awhile even on the game side of things

iunno, i think 2020 was the only one that actually went bad (Rise vocals aside, CGI was rushed cause of Covid too) cus the years after it were all really solid this year had some iffy bits but it was pretty good otherwise, it’s one of the best since 2019 and 2014 imo (though it feels weird how much we downgraded CGI/AR wise since 2019)

2020 is certainly an outlier given the circumstances with Covid and other detriments that prevented Worlds from being as great as it could have been. There definitely was a lot of scuff in this opening ceremony but I also say this as someone who understands that live performances like this will always have some level of issues. Outside of the animations and mic issues, the rest of the opening ceremony was phenomenal and I cannot give enough credit to Riot for the incredible work they put into these kinds of shows!

Absolutely agree with the 2020 comment, although of course it was certainly due to circumstances they couldn't control. I think in regards to the CGI/AR animations, 2018/2020 was the last time they used AR technology since they've been using screen projectors in 2019/2022 and edited film in 2021. This was just the risk they took but otherwise, the rest of the ceremony was good! My personal favorites will always be 2018 most likely because I'm a FNC bias. 💚

I do absolutely hate that trophy given it's lack of personality but it's not something we can do about at this point. Here's to hoping they change it one of these days! 🙏
