Creative Assembly definitely watches Mandalore's videos - he mentioned in a prior video how the settlement of Pigbarter was a personal objective for him in every campaign, and they added an easter egg to Pigbarter referencing him. If you conquer Pigbarter as the Empire, and park an army there, you get a unique follower (equippable buff for your Lord, basically) named "Sir Man Delour".

Cavill is actually a reference to henry cavill whos famously a warhammer nerd and loves talking about this game and 40k stuff in interviews. In fact he almost didnt pick up the call that landed him the witcher role because he was playing warhammer 2 ^^

Surprisingly, a lot of devs listen and watch Mandaloregaming. Probably, because he gives an actual feedback and not “I want a completely different game". He himself said during some twitch streams, that "devs are watching, I’m scared they will see this crazy sh*t". Like when he streamed Mechanicus and installed a visual mod by his community that completely scuffed the game.

The Lores of Magic are essentially spell lists. They are distinct from the Eight Winds of Magic because whereas each Wind is rather broad and conceptual, a Lore is more specific and caters to certain themes. A classic example of this is the Wind of Death versus the Lore of Death. The Wind of Death obviously can invoke death, which is well within the Lore of Death, but the Wind of Death also governs time, aging, and the despair associated with death, whereas the Lore of Death is more concerned with killing things or manipulating the dead. Put another way, the Wind of Death is entropy and the emotional responses entropy causes, while the Lore of Death is fixated on death specifically as a byproduct of entropy and how death specifically affects the world; it's a subtle difference, but it does exist and should be noted. Of course, the differences between the Winds of Magic and the Lores of Magic varies from source to source, especially when it comes to the Lores that share a name with the Eight Winds, but then there's things like the Lores of Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Nurgle, or the Lore of Hags and the Lore of the Deep, which aren't strictly tied to one Wind of Magic. There's a reason why there are only eight Winds of Magic, but dozens of Lores of Magic.

Well said! Glad you mentioned that Shyish (the Elven name for the Wind of Death) is less about death directly and more about time and inevitability. Although I hope no Amethyst Wizard hears you saying that the Lore of Death is about directly controlling or manipulating the dead, cause that sounds a bit too much like that sick and twisted VAMPIRISM, and you'll definitely be black bagged by the Wizard College of Death before the Witch Hunters get to you. As Teclis told the Human Wizards of the Empire, the CORRECT way of using the Wind of Death is to commune and plead with the spirits, not forcibly control them. ;P

@@norsehorse84 Well there's a reason that the Lore of Death and the Wind of Death form the backbone of Necromancy; you have to channel the power from the other Winds of Magic to successfully raise a corpse as an undead, but because you're using a corpse as a base, you need what power over the dead Shyish offers to form the core of the spell while using the other individual Winds to create both the raw power of Dhar and the subtle nuances necessary to create such a gross bastardization of life. What comes out is something unnatural, even by the already loose standards of Chaos, and is why Necromancy is so hated.

12:00 Generally speaking, all the different magic lores provide a mix of damage, utility and buffs. Lore of Death has some direct damage spells (one for single targets, one for units), an aoe damage spell, some debuffs, and a buff giving your units fear. Glad to see you continuing with the series, can't wait for the next one.

Lore of death wizards are interesting cause they see death as a beautiful and natural thing, so they absolutely hate necromancer but are also prone to turning to the temptation of necromancy at the same time, just from exposure.

Now that you mention your hate for explosive Squigs, is it s bad moment to tell you that the new Squig of this DLC is an explosive one? And yes, Cavill is a reference to Henry Cavil, he has a unique passive called White Wolf that gives him anti large to kill monsters, and around the time the DLC came off Henry had been anounced to play Geralt of Rivia in Netflix the Witcher

If you’re curious yes “Lores” refer to different magic types. Every wizard you recruit specializes in a specific lore with some legendary lords having spells from multiple lores. So a Wizard of the Lore of Fire has fire spells for example. In total there’s more than 20 different lores (probably more) and each lore has 6 spells for that specific lore. Off the top of my head some lores include, Shadows, Fire, Ice, Tempest, Plague, Skaven, Tzeentch, Slanesh, Nurgle, Beasts, Vampire, Dark, Light, Life, Death, High-Magic, etc.

In case you don't understand German which the empire is very inspired by, Valmir Van Vonvolkvan means Valmir of Ofpeopleof. Some of the "Yeah this sounds german, let's use it" names that GW gave the empire are hilarious.

the final battle with grom/eltharion is almost like a precursor to the siege rework in warhammer 3, obviously its a special fight so you have magical traps only available in it but nowadays sieges are more engaging than they were back in wh2, still not really much reason to hold the walls though, stupid butt ladders..

Yeah, it's kinda common that one army get better stuff than the other one in the various DLCs. Silence and the Fury for example is a major boon to the Beastmen but a bit more so-so for the Lizardmen. Hunter and the Beast in turn is a lot of fun stuff for the Lizardsmen including Nakai the Wanderer (my beloved) but the additions for the Empire are pretty underwhelming. As for Total Warhammer III though, all the DLC falls firmly into either the "this should have been in the base game instead of DLC" camp with the Ogre faction (yes, the entire faction was free with a pre-order but is now DLC) and Champions of Chaos (just a whole slew of new units for the Chaos factions), or it's in the "this is way too expensive for what you get" camp with the Chaos Dwarfs and Shadows of Change, who are $25 each. And for the latter Creative Assembly is scrambling to do content updates because nobody's paying $25 for less than a dozen new units. This is also not helped by CA strongly implying that if the DLC does not sell well there will be no more support for Total Warhammer III.

3's DLCs so far: - Champions of Chaos: Each Chaos faction is given identical amounts of content with solid upgrade systems, the DLC itself is a Warriors of Chaos DLC but doesn't requirement the original from 1. The issues are more that they got units that should have been in the base game, on top of introducing DLCs benefitting factions that aren't an initial part of it. This is something Shadows of Change has in spades (primarily the Beastmen). - Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs: Both overpowered and underdesigned, mostly a collection of recycled mechanics. (Cathay's trade routes and Dark Elves' 2 slave mechanics). - Shadows of Change. Released overpriced with minimal content, they're working on it but primarily via reskins. Each faction got at least one cool well-polished giant monster unit, the issues were more in their mechanics: Cathay's being overpowered but also fleshed out while the one was just Grom's cooking mechanic and the other a mostly useless gimmick (turning into other legendary lords).

I don't agree with you on Chaos Dwarfs, recycled game mechanics doesn't 't automatically equal bad. The slave mechanic is a little different from Dark Elves one too, much more nuanced and fun. I don't think they are as overpowered as people think they are, certainly not in MP. They are pretty fun to play. Im not sure where you got the idea that the new stuff for SoC is reskins?? Using the same skeleton is not the same as a reskin.

@@TheLegitWeebs Yes CA did bad, it wasn't Sega's fault and they deserved the vitriol from the community, now they are working to rebuild their reputation. I didn't buy SoC, first dlc I haven't but its looking better now for the price. The new stuff coming in SoC aren't reskins, people seem to confuse using the same skeleton to a reskin, yes an Elf will use the same skeleton as a human, elves still aren't human reskins. Chaos Dwarfs is better than he makes it out to be, they are pretty fun tbh and they make better use of past mechanics.

@@Ascythian - It was pretty much a slightly better version of the superior mechanic from 2 that they snatched away from the Druchii to replace with a worse version (I wonder why) - The majority of 2's DLCs have (for better or worse) unique mechanics that added something new to the game. With 3's, overpriced, DLCs I expected both new mechanics and highly polished assets. - Finally reskins keep the same movesets and hitboxes which are a huge part of the gameplay, especially for huge monsters. So they will need to have something interesting to add.

@@TheLegitWeebs Chaos Dwarfs are pretty fun but I think he's downplaying all the mechanics and how they play together. There's more to it than just Cathay caravans and a slave mechanic. Slaves are necessary to extract raw materials which are in turn required for arms production, which are then used to increased unit caps and upgrade units using a separate forge mechanic. Chorf economy is basically one big balancing act that requires you to plan ahead in order to build a military industrial complex that can sustain your expansion. All of this is related to their different settlement types: Towers, outposts and factories. - Towers produce Conclave influence which is used as currency to buy seats in the Dawi Zharr Conclave which can give you pretty powerful buffs, however other Chorf factions also compete for the available seats and can usurp seats from you at times (you can also steal their seats if you so wish). These seats go through multiple tiers representing the Tower and the closer you get to the top, the more impactful but costlier they get. -Outposts are used mainly for the extraction of raw materials but require slaves in order to efficient. Slaves can be acquired through bargaining via the caravan/supply train mechanic or through raiding and battles. -Factories are mainly for producing arms and generating income but require great quantities of raw materials to be efficient. When you capture a settlement you can choose the settlement type afterwards but you need to keep in mind your empire's requirements. They are definitely overpowered but Chorfs are hardly the only such faction. I'd rather something be overpowered and fun as is the case with Chaos Dwarfs than useless and boring. This is after all a mostly single player game, so balancing has frankly very little meaning. The real issue is not all factions are overpowered (if everyone's overpowered then no one is) but I suppose they'll get there eventually, or close to it.
