Well as you wrote the example what you have demonstrated is that an equivalent object can indeed be EQUAL at the exact same time. The equal sign means that number has an identical value to the equation on the left hand side of the equal sign. Here is an example to ponder in English syntax or grammar: “Your employment services are no longer needed at this place of business” is equivalent to getting officially “TERMINATED from your place of employment.” That is, you are no longer authorized to work there anymore. Now the language is a bit slick because TERMINATION doesn’t necessarily distinguish between you were fired or you were laid off. All we know is that you don’t work at that place of employment anymore. A logical equivalence would be “either not p or q” is equivalent to “If p, then q.” The last example is easily shown to be equivalent by an identical truth table.
