Depends on your PC at that point. I use a laptop and I can't run no man's sky, or elite dangerous, they crash and lag, I need a better computer to run games of those scope. I'm running ryzen 7 with etc 3050ti. If I had a 4080 super I wouldn't have this problem.​@@paulonarleylacerda1713

Superb overview of vr units...

Just got a quest 3. One of the best vr headsets ive ever used versitility wise, Mixed reality, Standalone, pcvr, inside out tracking, great controllers and good display. By far best standalone headset. The pcvr aspect is astonishing. For 560 euros its definetely worth the money in my opinion. Also excited to see vr will have to offer for upcoming years.

Thank you for a very good breakdown of VR options. I just got a quest 2 because I've never used VR, and the price was right ($200 usd new). Now that I've dipped my toes in the water I'm hooked. Building a stronger PC and getting a better headset is my next step.

That was the best overall review of all the VR headsets that have ever been available and which ones are worth buying still. I pre-ordered the Meta Quest 3 and feel its the best headset for the money. Especially with the mixed reality capabilities it has. This video is perfect for a beginner without knowledge about VR or someone with knowledge about VR. Thomas, you covered everything here and I learned about a few of the headsets myself. All I can say is just watch this video and you are good. Lets see what the future brings to VR in 2024, though. I am sure it will be awesome. Thanks again Thomas, for your great VR content.

Psvr 2 is great fun man. I enjoy it alot. Quest 3 barely showed any gameplay and they won't until launch ... And then you have all these endorsers who are worshipping the quest 3 through the roof. Oh boy if they say something bad about the quest 3 🤣 I'll stick with psvr 2 for now. Don't have a pc anyway🤷‍♂️

@@Wooskii1apparently it’ll need an additional piece of custom hardware once functional drivers are developed, but either way we probably have a couple years of waiting yet.

It could habe been very interesting, if you could have spent some words about weight, comfort, different qualities in gaming/productivity/movies/3d movies, and megative body effects (due to the kind of lenses) for each controler! Your video seems to be quite incomplete, but nice you showed so many of them! Keep up the good work!

I went from a Valve Index to the Vive Pro 2 & now the Pico 4. I really like the convenience of wireless inside-out tracking of the Pico 4, especially if I want to use it abroad. Setup is significantly easier than with wired + light houses. I think these standalone wireless headsets might benefit a lot from Wi-Fi 7, but I've yet to see that included. Valve really needs to do an updated release with a Valve Index 2. There's so much more they can do with current technology. The Valve Index was always super reliable with no janky extra software needed so I miss that experience & would love to see an Index 2.

I was able to get a new Quest 2 128GB through Amazon for $160 and have been having a blast with it, coming from original HTC Vive. I honestly love it a lot more than the HTC Vive. the lack of cables is extremely nice, and with the battery headstrap it balances a lot better and makes it feel lighter.

Short question, I have a Vive Pro 2 for Flight Simulator; is it worth to upgrade to Quest 3? Thank you and best from Berlin, M.

Hey, I want to upgrade to Quest 3 but i don't know if it is a good option for me. I will mostly focus on PCVR, especially simracing, but i also want to play other games that require good controller tracking. Do you think there is a big visual difference between Reverb G2 and Quest 3 through link cable? I know G2 is probably visually better but i really want good tracking alongside it. If there arent bigger differences in viusals Q3 is the obvius option. Or am i missing any other option that is around 500-700€?

15:47 In many countries, the Vive Pro is also discontinued. You may grab one new from some retailers (or a bunch of used ones online). Still, I'm returning my Vive Pro 2. It wasn't dark enough for me when I was in complete darkness in Half-Life: Alyx, and the biggest difference for me was SDE (which I couldn't notice in Vive Pro 2). I guess I got too used to OLED.

For most people the answear should be quest2/3 depending on the budget or a "office" headset like apple vision pro

I really need help. I'm trying to get into pcvr but idk what headset to buy thats decent in every area. My pc specs are rtx 3060 , and an i7-10700k intel cpu. I just want a decent vr headset that has decent tracking, decent resolution, and decent refresh rate. Just all around decent, but not too expensive . What do you recommend ? I was thinking about getting a quest 3, but I used to have a quest 2, and it was kinda trash at running on my pc. I was thinking of getting an hp reverb g2, but I heard the tracking is bad especially when its close to the headset which discourages me from buying it. Any tips on what headset to choose? I would really appreciate it.

What's coming up next? I'm looking at midrange PCVR headsets but the only thing out there is the Quest 3, which I'd get but it doesn't have DisplayPort and sucks for simulators 😢

What would you recommend more for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the Pico 4 or the Quest 3? I really like the smaller weight of the Pico 4 (300g vs. 500g), but the Quest 3 has the higher FOV (110° vs. 105°). How much difference is 110° vs. 105°? Is it worth having 200g more on the head?

I went from OG HTC Vive to Vive Pro. I also tried the Vive Pro 2 but returned it because I preferred the Pro 1 AMOLED. For my personal use case, I feel the Vive Pro is nearly perfect. Microphone is normal quality but I don't need it/don't use it, so I don't want the headset to be even more expensive because of a microphone I don't need. Screen door effect, for my use case, is nearly negligible. Sometimes, I even forget it's there, except in very bright environment, and when I try to read extremely small text. Still considering whether or not the Beyond is a worthy upgrade.

Please recommend a virtual reality headset for a 6'53" smartphone for watching movies. Thanks

I want a vr headset that has 4k 144hz Oled display ofc. And a brain sensor uses the brain waves as controls so it can simulate real human movement (it can be wired thanks to that). Fortunately we have all of these techs. Now we only need a company to integrate it together.

I have owned the original oculus rift and the original vive until they were stolen . I like to mostly play sit down games like elite dangerous . I think the quest 3 will suit my needs it can do stand alone and I can use my computer . It has way better resolution than my headsets I owned before . My question. My OG Vive is struggling 7 years after getting it. Thinking about getting a Vive Pro 2 Headset and Index controllers and base stations from Steam. Those are compatible right? The goal is to have the advantages of the unique Index controller and the high resolution of the Vive Pro 2, sounds like a winning combo if it works like that.

On paper the Vive Pro 2, index controllers and outside tracking with steam is better. I have been running this setup for 2 years, but I can't recommend it unfortunately :(. I constantly find myself going back to my Quest 2 with link cable. My Vive Pro 2 constantly glitches out, my index controllers lose tracking and glitch out too. The worst part is, replacement parts are very expensive, and I have spent way too muhc time troubleshooting the issues. My quest 2 has been very reliable, even while using the link cable. I am actually looking to sell my Vive + Index + Basestations and just buy a Quest 3.

I recently got an HTC vive from a friend of mine who upgraded to a quest 2, and I'm quite happy with it even though it does kinda suck, but my pc does too, so I am barely able to get a playable fps. But I am just happy for the Basestations for the most part, cuz that means less money when upgrading headset when I eventually do upgrade my pc

The quest 2 is not an upgrade from HTC vive. PC vrs will always out perform standalone vrs in every area. The major downside is its wired unless you buy wireless adapter and you need a very good gaming PC to run vr games well.

I have a good 65" hdr oled tv but want to get really cinema and 3d effectd with good picture(I don't have an appropriate wall for a video projector). My priority is not comfort but to get the most enjoyable and realistic picture from watching movies. I'm ready to buy Pimax Crystal but is it the best choice in comparison with Bigscreen Beyond or maybe there is a better choice? I mean which one can give the best cinematic experience? I've read that Pimax Cristal has HDR and Bigscreen has a "glare" issue during scenes with high contrast, is it true? Or maybe it's impossible for now to get better cinematic experience from a VR headset than from a good 65" hdr oled tv set? What do you think?

i couldnt agree more with your final choice! just i need to mention that pico 4 has poor library as a standalone headset compare to quest 3 or quest 2, but it is a great choice if you want a cheap wireless pcvr headset! And also i feel as you said that beyond is the future, for pcvr gamers like me at least!

bro, index is like 15 years old, my great grandfather played on it the jump from 1440×1600 per eye resolution in index to 2k per eye in quest 2/3 may seem small, but its the difference between seeing every pixel and just seeing "slightly blurry image"
