If there have been a cycle of seven disasters, why do we know about them? Did someone miraculously survive each one, and then pass the information on (how?) to the next unfortunate individual? Bearing in mind the fact that the Maya were in the Americas (some distance from India), there must have been a pretty efficient news channel back then.
