The Fred Baron RC Thanks Fred, hope to maiden this weekend with Anthony filming. It was more of a build project than I expected. My first non- foam plane. I had a foam Beechcraft Duke that I really enjoyed for years but it expired one day. 😣. I’ll tell my wife you appreciate her interior design work. 😂

@@PiperPilot1976 Unfortunately no, and as you can see it has been a few years since I built this plane. I ended up changing the retracts shown in this video for stronger Robart landing retracts. I remember having to do some modification in the front wheel well to get the connecting rod to work correctly. Be careful of the overall weight in relation to your power system. I lost this plane from a low altitude stall. I may replace it one day if it is still offered. Right now Motion RC has this plane but always on backorder. Good Luck

HI Tom, don't know if your monitoring this, but i'm also finishing up my VQ Baron. Have you flown yours? What power system did you decide on? I went with a pair of Tomcat G32 motors / 11x9 3-blades / ZTW 45A ESC's / 4S 5200mah.... is that close to what you used? Mine was also a lot more than I expected to put together LOL!

Hey Jeff. Yes, I have flown my Baron a few more times but didn't have anyone available to video record. If you click on the show more button of the video description above it does show my complete set up. I did install Robart retracts and Dave Brown tires that made a big difference on ground handling. I also purchased and increased to 5S 5000 batteries which was the max for the motors I installed and the power is much better for the weight of this plane. It is a great looking and flying plane. I just need calmer winds and more free time to fly it more often. I hope to post more videos soon. Have you flown your Baron yet? Let me know how it goes. Thanks.

@@tomclark8391 thanks for the reply... haven't flown mine yet; working the final details now (lights. cowls, wing connectors). It will be interesting to see how it flies - the power setup i chose with 11x9's @ 830kv vs your 12x8's at 670kv. My thinking at the time was to go as light as possible. we'll see if it works!

@@thejeffstrongman The GT Power Light System I used, as you can tell in the video, is awesome. I purchased another set for back up or another plane because they work so well. Good luck with your maiden flight. Fly her all the way to the ground to avoid that tip stall.

@@tomclark8391 how did you mount your landing light to the front strut? I've been trying to figure out a cool way to do it... i have been tinkering with making one on my 3D printer, but if you have a simple solution i'd love to hear it!

Jeff Strong I’m using the light and mounting bracket from the Freewing Yak 130 from Motion RC. You can buy it from their website parts page. I’m actually at the field now flying. Here’s a close up picture.
