Voxelab Aquila S2 3D Printer: Top Notch Performance, on a (Sort Of) Budget

The Aquila S2 can handle almost any filament that you care to throw at it, and the reversible heated build plate gives you the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the great and in depth review. Been looking at Aquila S2 as it's the cheapest 3D printer in the shop I've looked at in my country. I'm certain it'll be worth the 350€

Thanks for sharing. It's on sale here locally at 145 EUR, which is a steal.

I'll let you know in a week or two... Never owned or used a 3D printer in my life, but my Voxelab Aquila S2 3D Printer will be delivered next week. So we will see if this is truly a good first 3D printer for a newbie. Thanks for the review!

@@FrappeChan I've had mine for 3 months now and I gotta say, I'm beyond impressed! Within the first 30 days, I was printing fully functional things including firearms! The Voxelab Aquila S2 is absolutely amazing! However it must be setup correctly (so take your time, do it 100% right) I'm now getting to the limits of what this printer is truly capable of doing and looking to up-grading (speed & size of projects). I will keep the Voxelab Aquila S2 because when set up correctly, it will preform as well as some high-end printers, just not as fast or with the large build volume. This was definitely one of the greatest purchases I've personally made in my almost 50 years on this planet! I highly recommend this printer to anyone that is looking at making 3D prints for cheap start up cost and great results if you are willing to not rush into it and take the time to set it up right!

loved my aquila s2 at first but i gotta say the insane amount of time i spend having to disassemble the hotend is extremely frustrating. No filament run-out, so if your filament gets sucked down into the hotend, guess what? you now get to take apart the entire thing, hold it with a pair of pliers, turn the nozzle temp up to 200 C or higher and try to push the stuck filament through the nozzle with another piece of filament or a super narrow screwdriver/alan wrench/etc without getting burned. And due to the stupid design of still having PTFE tubing inside the hotend, there is still a lot of opportunity for clogs even when running regular PLA. After probably 15 KG worth of filament printed on mine, Ive had to replace the entire hotend already including the heat break and all that (which is discontinued and no longer available for purchase anywhere, even from Voxelab, despite them still selling the Aquila they no longer sell replacement parts or even nozzles) and now i consistently have about 5 failed prints to every 1 successful one. Upgraded to a flashforge adventurer 5m which regularly goes on sale for only $230 and I havent looked back. Now have P1P performance out of a printer that costs less than the S2's MSRP when it was new, just a couple years ago. Their support is also trash. Mine arrived with a bent plate support (the metal X-brace that the hot bed bolts to) and when i reached out to Voxelab their response was "you bend back to shape" and than they ignored my emails after that. Fantastic support.

For less $280 USD...the Anycubic Kobra has auto bed leveling, larger build size, direct drive, comes preassembled, has spring steel pei sheet, and is touch screen. At that price point, the LEAST they could do is include auto bed leveling. I own 2 Aquilas and an Aquila X2 in my stash, and I do like them, but they kind of missed the mark on the price point of this machine
