so I have to say, the mic does have a good tone. I really enjoy it, I do have a concern about the 600ohm impedance being a little high compared to other lower impedance dynamic microphones. can we get a standard 150ohm version with the same sensitivity? maybe I'm just having dreams of the "Good ol' Days" of electrovoice dynamic mics :P

The fairly high impedance of the MA-D seems to be a workable compromise-- LOWERING the impedance would entail either reducing the number of turns on the pickup coil or using thicker wire, which would lower the sensitivity of the microphone, unless the strength of the magnetic field is raised to compensate. We consider the higher impedance to be a non-issue except in "worst-case" circumstances, such as extremely long cable runs or where multiple "splits" are being taken from one microphone.

Greg-- I don't see it here, but your question about tapping the coil to lower the impedance of the microphone won't work-- you would have the same voltage across the two parallel connected windings as across ONE winding with half as many turns, so you would reduce the sensitivity of the microphone

Let's call it "inexperience". I used all purpose flour instead of cake flour once to make a sponge cake. You could scrub a sink with that cake!
