Happy to see these VortecMax's getting love! I'm in Houston with two 06 VMax's! One is burgandy cloth 2 wheel drive. Other is fire red 4x4 leather, power, heated, and center console. Both are mint inside and out no rust no dents and just over 100k miles and both have the 4L70E. Bought 2 wheel in 2020 for $12k, 4x4 Jan 2024 for $16k. Super rare in the wild and tons of them you see are fake, most people and even dealerships were putting max badges on them in the day. I love GMT800's and them 06 VMAX's are some of the best they made!

Another history note: VMax's have 14 bolt rear ends but 2wd have 3.73 gears and 4x4 are 4.10. You can tell the difference off the line, normal driving and towing with them. At 70mph the 2wd 1700-1800rpm, 4x4 2200-2300rpm.

I have an 05 VHO. Poor man's SS. I LOVE IT.

The 2006-2007 trucks usually got the “Vortec Max” engine cover (GM part# 19355583) while prior to that they got the “Vortec 6000” one (GM part# 19355581). The Vortec Max trucks should also have the 4L70-E (RPO M70) transmission while most of the other trucks got the 4L65-E (RPO M32). You can check the glove box to confirm which it has. The rear axle might also be different on these trucks. The 6.0s might have the 8.6” or stronger 9.5” rear axle (RPO AXN) depending on year and configuration. You should be able to tell by looking at them since the 9.5” is noticeably larger. The Vortec Max should have the 9.5” but I think that year VHO only had the 8.6.” The blue color was called “blue granite metallic for the Silverado but “stealth gray metallic” for the Sierra. It’s the same color though with RPO 46U.

Rear axle ratios might also be different. They both likely have either 3.73s or 4.10s.

Long live the gmt 800!! From what I know in 2006 the h.o. had 2 wheel only and the max had option of 2 and 4 wheel. Both still 345 hp and 380 torque. My buddy used to have an 07 and a half vortec max with 367 hp. Both of them that you have are very nice trucks

Also too the Chevy Silverado SS few years had a standard all-wheel drive. I believe the last year or the last 2 years of the Silverado SS had an option of rear wheel drive so it felt a lot quicker the rear-wheel drive ones.

The vortec max is nice, we got the best color, Blue Granite Metallic 😍

Had some rare ones. I've only seen 1 B4V truck in my life. Seen more than a dozen v max trucks. The h.o truck was super disappointing in stock form. Lots of hemi trucks ate it's lunch on several occasions. But it was a comfortable reliable power out the lq9. The power it has was always ready for anything.

2004 VHOs were only year with rear disc brakes and only year that didnt have the 14 bolt rearend

The differences from the 04 and the 06 is the E fans that’s why the 06 feels peppier

I've always wanted to find a blue granite VortecMax and make into an SS clone! I think I've only seen one regular cab clone in blue granite.

They started the electric fans in 05.

Hey, what's up, J? It's been said that the difference in HP between those two trucks should be with the fans. The 04 should have a clutch fan, and the 06 should have electric fans, supposedly, the clutch fan robs the engine of some horse power. Look into it.

They started the v max name on 2006 thats why the 03/04 and 05 ss don’t have the v max engine covers only 06/07 ss you will find the v max engine covers

I would buy the red truck if it was 4×4.

I got 2005 yukon denali I think it's lq9

It most definitely is possible! A lot of them have the LQ4.. check for “19N” in your VIN number or a N at the 8th digit in your VIN
