Ideally, someone who regardless of political affiliation, once in office will care for the EU's interests as whole (even though this is "easier said than done" because member-states have more influence than others and will always bicker among themselves).

Romanian here: Believe me, externally Klaus Iohannis is praised by nearly the entire western world but when it comes to internal politics, he only manages to continuously hit historic lows for his public trust. His lack of transparency (a core european value) when it comes to presidential spending practices and also lack of communication / general inactivity as head of state since his last election in 2019 only made him more and more unpopular. ALSO, even though during his presidency, Romania didn t have a hard right gov., current polls show that the next parliament is set to have about more than a fifth of its seats taken by right wing, eurosceptic, parties, with Klaus Iohannis being seen as one of the main causes of this rise. (due to his unpopularity, opposition has generally taken a more anti western rhetoric). Remember, in 2015, Romania had no explicitly right wing party in parliament, now in 2024, it not only has, but that is also set to grow. Please, if you care about the EU, as much as it pains me to say, do not even think, (let alone trust) Iohannis for the EC President position. - and that applies to NATO also

Good joke as no one will be allowed to stand agais her as for normal
If the EP elections, as polls predict, have the EPP losing ground to more conservative parties. I except that ECR will become kingmaker. Key for Von der Leyden is support from the Polish PIS party, currently in opposition at home and Italy’s FDI party which is in power. If Von der Leyden has done a deal with Italy’s PM Meloni she should make it. If not, the EPP will need another option, possibly Sweden’s Karl Bildt or Ireland’s Leo Varadkar.

Just replace here with anybody... I was thinking even a cabbage with a magic marker face drawn on with a straw hat would do... no really! It would probably do less harm to the planet
UVDL should be jailed for life
Dethroned? Is Europe allready a monarchy or better a dictature?
By people not blind.
Depends on their master, US.
This woman is evil.
You dont have to be the leader of the biggest party.
Ursula and the rest of her disappointing cronies were, probably, the ones waiting in line at the Moroccan border years ago waiting for their hashish fixes.
“F the EU” - Victoria Nuland (ally)
It will be leyen, you underestimate the capacity the fall upward in the eu.
haha...it is invented Position for Nomenclature ( Aristocrats) with Nomenclature ( Aristocrats).... 1 Ursula, 2 Ursula, 3 Ursula, 4 Ursula, 5 Ursula ! same like Putin ?
If Andrej becomes Ursulas replacement the Eu will barely reach African living and transparency standards

ANdrej has the necessary experience, eight years as the PM of Africa with no electricity.
4:09 & 4:16 EU Made Simple, but math does not....instead 4.6, correct number should be 7.7 or 8.3 (depend on member number --> 3 or 4)

@@pz4336 O really????? Would you be so kind and explain it to me? One of the fundamental characteristics of the arithmetic mean is that it cannot be lower than the minimum value. It's possible that this is not an average, but rather the sum. Yet, once again, seems it's not a sum either because data are in the range from 60% to 100%, and sum is 43 %. The measures of locations such as the mean, median, and mode must be within the data interval, and the sum should be higher than the minimum value.

@@moonnippy but we are not calculating a mean or a median here🤦🏻♂️ the idea is to see how likely it is that she will be re-elected, for which she has to go through 5 steps (let’s call them A to E). so to calculate her chance of re-election, you need to do probability of A (p(A)) x p(B) x p(C) x p(D) x p(E). hope this helps

@@pz4336 Thank you, but I think it would be more logical to express this design through a sum instead of odds, especially in a form like x/10. At the very least, identifying differences between candidate points would be easier. Anyway, thanks for the clarification
Every MEP should vote against commission presidents who are not directly chosen by the Europeans !
@pierlu056

no president is directly elected by europeans! The spitzenkandidaten method doesn't work, the majority of people that votes in european elections for national parties doesn't even know who these candidates are. Moreover, no european group gets an absolute majority of the Parliament seats and so no group can decide by itself. If we want people to choose, let's introduce the direct election of the Commission President, otherwise there is an indirect election and let's not pretend that the President is chosen by the people
Greece supports von der Leyen? 🤦
I would vote on Orban.
Von der Leyen was unpopular in Germany and a terrible Minister of Defence. Yet managed to get this job because Angela Merkel pushed her.
I think Draghi is the best choice , he has the experience, the credentials and ideas about Europe as a strong global competitor against the us ,China or Russia
