Volvo XC90 with Bilstein B6 Offroad Lift

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this Video you'll see a standard factory suspension system of a 2005 model Volvo XC90 being changed to the Bilstein B6 OffRoad shocks, new springs and a little lift by higher silentblocks and the result of it.
Also will be added a new bashplate from www.stahl-unterfahrschutz.eu
Liftkit from https//:www.Tema 4x4.ru
Shocks from www.bilstein.com/de/de/produk...
---

    @@BabaNovac792 You're welcome, I had to fit the rear spacer because the form did not fit well. The metal plate to fit the coilspring is oval and with a surfase formed as an S, molded at the inner side to fit the form of the spring. The spacer is round and flat and did not stay in position well between the plate and the spring, so we took an air-grinder and copied the form of the plate to the spacer, loosing one cm of the spacer at the inner side, but then it stayed in position well and did its job without moving. In total I lost about 0,5cm in comparison to the front axle, but it is looking almost equal, though.

    I have a question,please! If i switch from Nivomats to normal shocks,can i keep the coil springs or do i have to change them too? Are the normal springs harder than the ones from the Nivomat equipped cars? I mean,Nivomat springs differ from normal ones in strentgh. Forgive my logic,but i was thinking that the harder the shock absorber,the softervthe spring and viceversa

  • @greyknight05

    @greyknight05

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi, no you can't keep the springs, because their form will damage the shock while working. The niveaumatic shocks are bigger in dimension with a short travelway and for that the springs are oval shaped. When the spring tension raises and the spring gets compressed, everything fits. The shock without niveaumatic has a longer body, what results in a little different travel angle of spring and shock whlile working. So you will need the round shaped spring for shocks without niveaumatic, or the combination of the two wrong parts could damage ot bent the shock. Elseway your logik might be right, but this is a mechanical problem of travelway and angle🙂👍

    Did you go up in tire size? If so, what size are you running, and have you had any issues with rubbing or going hub lock to hub lock? I've seen some companies offering subframe drop bushings, to realign the drive train. Is that something you would do later? Or have you not had any issues that would lead you to believe this was needed?

  • @greyknight05

    @greyknight05

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Collin, no this is one of the standard tire sizes for the car, and there is no real chance to mount bigger tires without cutting the fenders longer. Subframe spacers would raise the car, but in my opinion I would win nothing by them except optics, as the drivetrain and axles were on the same level over ground still. So with a big amount of work, an certifying egineer and a whole lot a' money it would be possible to install bigger and wider tires, but that would be easier with most other 4 wheel-cars, because of existing parts kits. For Volvo there exists almost nothing 😐

I put a link to the bilstein factory site to the videos perscripion, because you will need your xc 90's ident-nr to identify which b6-shocks will fit your car, there are different ones in the model ages and engine-versions. Yes and no😅 As I mentioned, it would propably work with mud and sticks, but not against rocks. It got cracks, being hit by highway-debris (parts of a semi-truck tire) and it flexed way too much, the foam had lost its glue and was a perfect mud trap. Maybe it is better then some flimsy plastic parts of younger cars. I think, the steel plate is not the perfect solution, but it does a better job. Greets, Bjørn
