To me ... this is normal if you own a xc70 pf v70 ... they are ... without doubt ... th most complete family/vacation/everyday car ... I have a diesel engine in it with 185hp and 480Nm ... combined withe automatic gearbox it's sooo smooth. Love it!

Just a detailers tip if you really want to get the plastics and hoses under the hood to shine leave the engine wet and soak it with 303 aerospace protectant or any other kind of plastic spray on dressing

no that's how you turn a Volvo into a boat anchor, in fact Volvo warn owners in the owners manual "to never pressure wash the engine". If someone offered me a XC90 with a clean engine bay I would walk away as fast as possible.

Красота, прям в салон на продажу или на выставку. Качество съемки видео - отлично. Я при мойке двигателя снимаю пластиковую крышку и мою еще и сам двигатель.

Нет, ему ничего не будет. Когда едишь в дождь, вода на скорости через радиаторы попадает на него. Так что не страшно

Попробуйте мыть не жидким мылом, а спец составом. Я использую от Koch диэлектрик для мойки двигателя. Наношу с помощью мовильницы. Меньше шансов, что вода что-нибудь зальет.

No problem using a pressure washer. Just make sure you keep distance and dont force the water innto connectors. Most cars today should handle it. But using dishsoap is not good. It strips and matts the paint and components down. You can get good soaps for engine bays. I preffer chemical guys allclean citrus. If its realy dirty and stuck i use prick bort. With 2 diffrent brushes one soft one stiff.

David Alas se puede hacer en todos los motores 😉 solo ten cuidado con el alternador, tapalo con una bolsa y cinta. Tambien mira que tienes la caja de aire y todos los otros componentes de aire bien sellados y que no entre agua. Si tu coche no tiene tapa de plastico cubriendo la parte superior del motor donde estan las bujias y bobinas, asegurate de cubrir eso ya que no quieres agua entrando en los cilindros! Aparte de eso, asegura que todas las tapas esten bien cerrados (aceite, refrigerante, liquido freno etc). Tengo un Volvo V50 T5 AWD al cual le limpiare el compartimento del motor este invierno. Ah se me olvido, nunca use una maquina a presion, nunca es bueno poner presion en los cables de corriente etc. Mejor usar una manguera con un cabezal que eche agua en forma de ducha y sin mojar demasiado el compartimento del motor.

Alexander Konovalov it seems to me like a standard tarpaulin (waterproof), similar to what you would find in any hardware store. They are usually blue, but he found a green and brown one!

+Gordon Hay The connector has a seal. It's under anyway. I see a lot of comments that it's not recommended to wash with water. I am not afraid and do the same on many cars with no problens. There is two more videos on my channel where I wash the engine same way. Golf and SX4.

I have the same type of engine bay on my S80. The only thing that I worry about is the electronic components getting wet and screwing things up.

you never ever wash any engine in any modern car. Modern engines are a sealed system so there is zero performance advantage to washing an engine. In fact pressure washers can force water past protective seals on electronics and mechanical parts resulting in serious damage to the motor. If you want to clean the engine bay use a damp cloth and that's about it.

volvosweden Thanks thats an honest estimate because elsewhere and on used car dealers they indicate 8.9 highway 11.9 city Btw I really like your car it looks like its in excellent shape. The xc70 is very rare and the asking prices are very high I see, I saw one 2016 t5 xc70 in all of Canada (Calgary) asking price 43000$ with 47k km. What made you decide on getting this particular model from volvo may I ask?

+edmondo di capua Volvo is not cheap to buy. I used to own 99 S80 T6. It's was fast and fun. I did miss AWD, cargo space and ground clearance to go light off-road. I am not an SUV guy and always loved wagon. XC70 gives me decent power with the T6 engine, it's AWD which is very nice in our winters here in Manitoba and now with two kids that extra space in the boot is essential.

This guy obviously loves his Volvos like I do, I think we better get him to move south to the U.S. before he freezes to death in Manitoba and we lose future videos !!

к сожалению теплоизоляцию капота мыть не стоит ( она сильно садится) и потом выпадает из пазов ( держится только на клипсах)

i wanna do this but im very worried about geting water in areas its not suppoesd too plus right now im not having any issues with my vehicle it eoukd be devastating to have one because of me washing it 😂

first thing I thought when I saw him hosing it off. Looks like he didn't really spray directly at the alternator, but I would feel more comfortable covering it.

Why cover the engine if you wash the engine anyway?? And Why didnt you remove the plastic cover on the engine for a better cleaning underneath?

The wash is for looks. I dont want to spray water on the ignition coils.

Awesome engine wash. Question, isn't this risky and may cause electronic failure. I'd love to have my engine bay shine like yours but I fear I may end up with electronic malfunctions.

Just wipe it if you fear of washing it.

Never pressure wash the engine bay, it is too hard on the electrical components. Just use a normal hose. Ps: good job other then that

Yeah, I'd rather use a pressure washer too, since it actually removes more of the water while applying (higher pressure blows the water away) than a hose would (lower pressure, more water stays around).

Luan Luu They're not wrapped up when you drive through puddles in the rain. All modern cars have weatherproofed electrical wiring and components designed to protect against water ingress to important areas. The design of the HT (High Tension - high voltage) part of the ignition system on a modern car is far better at coping with water than old cars used to be, which is the main area likely to cause problems with water ingress. On many newer vehicles the ignition system is built directly on the engine allowing HT cables to be kept as short as possible to the spark plugs, virtually removing sensitivity to the effects of water. Improvements in materials and components also plays a part.

Is this the cleanest Volvo in North America? My S80 3.2 hasn't became dirty, I just give it a light dusting. When I bought the V60 it from a Volvo dealer in Yorkshire it was surprisingly dirty so I had it washed when I got it back to Ireland. I think climates that have snow contribute to these dirty engine bays. I wouldn't enjoy driving a car with a dirty engine, lots of people probably would think that's crazy, but eh!

Мою сзади где гаражи. Конец видео это перед дома и там обычно никто не моет хотя и не запрешено.

Only warning here is if you have a early model XC90 with a V8 (especially the 2005 version) "do not under any circumstances wash the engine". There is a balance shaft bearing issue where water gets into the engine and you suddenly have a $4k-> new engine problem. In fact if you look at the warranty Volvo specifically tells you not to wash the engine with a pressure washer.

Never use a pressure washer on the engine. Cover all electrical, mist or steam clean is your best bet ...even then cover your electrical's.

это точно!!! не для России данная процедура, т.к. у нас воздух очень грязный, сам климат очень грязный!!! пыли грязи, листьев, пуха и всего другого полно будет под капотом!!! швеция изначально чистая страна и цивилизованная страна в отличии от россии!!!

Nikita Filippov, живу в России. Сбиваю с двигателя пыль струей воды 2-3 раза в год. Состояние подкапотного пространства как на видео. Не нагнетайте про российские дороги....

Evgeny Kosourov про них не надо ничего нагнетать, все и так все знают. Ямы, разбитость, грязь с обочин. Осенью еще не так много, а весной со снегом вся грязь с обочин ползет на дороги. Живу в екатеринбурге, который в простонародье именуют грязьбург. Каждые две недели езжу по трассе до челябинска, эта та самая трасса, про которую рэпер баста записал видео губернатору, т.к яма на яме, куча стыков и колея. Так что ничего тут не нагнетается.

Какое отношение это видео имеет к дорогам России? На видео показано как можно не нанося ущерба электронике, щадаящим способом, помыть подкапотное пространство. Мыть или не мыть это индивидуальное решение каждого автомобилиста. А так тут и тракторист, слезая с трактора в поле, может сказать, что видео отстой, потому как в его условиях это надо делать два раза в день.

I talked to a Service worker at the Volvo Dealership and he said he highly does NOT recommend a Volvo Engine to be sprayed at all PERIOD because it will cause Electrical Problems! That he has worked on Volvo Engines for years and has experienced Customers spraying their engines and caused problems. DO NOT SPRAY YOUR ENGINE!

Back 30 years ago when cars used distributors I would have agreed. These days all electrical connectors are sealed completely and can withstand basically being submerged in water. All underhood connectors MUST be able to withstand water as it's very normal to get water underhood.
