Im about bto get me one and i want it to be fast. I gonna take the engine from a volvo 740/940 turbo model B230FK, hot it up to 250 hp, then get the trasnsmission from a 5 speed volvo 740 and the rear axel and break system from a volvo 240. that rear axel is just 3 cm, little more than 1 inch wider than the weak amazon rear axel. And if you want, its not hard to make a B230 to make 600 hp, but i think thats a little bit of overkill, exept if you wanna drag race

He got this for 1000 dollars?! I would get it if it was an Amazon 121 that had been sitting outside for years and years. But even so a running amazon 121 goes for a bit more than 1000 dollars. I've seen 122s models in good condition go for well above 15-20k here. And I like how he mentions he swapped it with a 140 engine and p1800 transmission. But I do actually believe the engine is the same as in the original 122s and the transmission from the p1800 was the overdrive model, and I do think they had it in the 122s as well. Or maybe it was just for the GT model. Either way very accurate in relation to its time period.

Hey Max! I did buy this way back in 2010 for a tad more then a thousand dollars before Volvo's really had any collector value. At that time it had recently been pulled out of a field, had large holes in the floors, a pretty rough interior and barely ran. It took hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to get it where it is now, most all done in my little garage workshop. As far as drivetrain the car was originally equipped with B18 and an M40 transmission. I wanted to keep everything Volvo so the engine is from a B20 from a late 140 and the transmission is a late M41 overdrive J type unit from a P1800. During the metal work phase I grafted in a P1800 transmission tunnel as well to have the short throw P1800 shift linkage as well. The 123GT never came with a B20 but did have the M41. Oddly enough the interior is from a 123GT and has never been recovered! Find me at @R32rennsport on Instagram if you want to know more!

@@R32RennSport I bought a '68 122S about fifteen years ago for $1000, in Colorado. It was running well enough to get me 100 miles home to Wyoming, without swapping any fuel filters! Mine was rough too: I bought it from a kid who had driven it through high school. I think his friends held a dance party on the roof! The roof alone required three days of hammer and dolly work, and then most of a gallon of Bondo, but it looked good in the end! Mine has been a daily driver for the past decade. I'm fortunate to live on a dirt road with three 90 degree bends between home and highway, so I get some rally sideways driving thrills most days! 😮It's an amazingly reliable car for being 56 years old. I wish mine had the b20 engine, though the b18 is entertaining enough! The carbs spend lots of time at full throttle!

@@tedpreston4155 Thanks for sharing Ted! The story sounds familiar, luckily besides the floors I never had to do any body or paint work. I live on a circular gravel driveway myself so it's fun to practice a little on familiar turf. A B18 is still plenty to get in trouble with if it's running strong!

What wheels are those? and what size tires?

They are authentic Halibrand pin drive knock off wheels reproduced for continuation Shelby Cobra's by ET Wheels. The rims are 15x7.5. Tire size is 205/65/15. They require a lug to pin drive adapter kit also sold by ET.

Music gives me headaches - why not pure engine sound - great video except of that 🙂
