All of the 2000 and Up t5s, mainly just the t5s and Rs from the S60's and the 2004+ C70/V70s cars were all 2.5

a 97 850r just sold for 3200 and an estate version sold for a tad over 4. i will probably be getting one soon

In 4th - nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo way!!! I've had a 850T5-R and it maxed out the revs in 5th gear at 270ish

I just didnt know if he had heard of ARD. I gave IPD as a generic, most volvo people know these guys type of response. The guy might not want to spend that much money, so i told him to do the cheapest thing to get 300hp. He doesnt need rods nor pistons for that level. The rods and pistons together will be $1600 alone, and thats not including the labor. For $1600 he could get a used 850R engine and get it installed and maybe have enough left for ARD tune. Or he could just get a tune and turbo

@jamespinfold99 do u know how strong a T5-R Motor is? it is quite literally bullet proof, and a head gasket goes through excessive heat / poor grade materials, the right gasket for the use will last ruddy ages. and take all kinds of punishment.

Search for a used one from Japan! Guy down the road from me got one for his Brother. 53,000KM and in showroom condition. $6500 !! In Canada, you can import a car(used) from Japan if it's 15 years old or older. Steering is on the Left Side to.

Just buy the GLT and then buy an 850 R or 850 T5 motor in. You definatley can get a goood used T5 engine off of eBay, for between $300 and $500. Then just drop another $75-100 on a Volvo 850 T5 or R ECU(look for one that has been chipped by IPD or someone, there are many out there on ebay already tuned). This will save you a ton of money, granted your mechanic doesnt charge an arm and a leg to swap the engines. Really just get the tuned ECU, and some forged connecting rods, and turn boost up.

a T-5 came in 2.3 or 2.5 liter options, however the fast one is the 2.3

NIce car but it is not an original T5R. The originals came ONLY with an automatic since the manual was not reliable with the power produced and even the auto was stressed at more than 285 HP. Many people have cloned these but if it does not have the X in the VIN, it is NOT a T5R.

Maybe that's true in The US, but in Europe both automatic and maual were available. The T-5R had basically the same engine and software as the T-5, but 15 HP more by a overboostfunction.....

Wrong wrong wrong! The Manual transmissions were NOT shipped with US cars due to not being OBD2 compliant in 1995, This was a statutory REQUIREMENT for all US vehicles at the time, not this shit about being strong enough? If you know anything about these cars its that in order to maintain high output engines, you must have a manual gearbox, now why would that be if the auto slushbox was stronger? Hint...? It isnt.

t5grrr Those gearboxes manually are epicly awsm. Tho like any gearbox it can get killed if you drive it wrong..
