I hope you enjoyed your day at the Processing Center! That looks like a big one! Yes… more paper, pencils and sharpeners! That’s exactly what I’ve tried to share. I’m going back tomorrow for a third shift! I’m bringing a third carload full of pencil packs with paper! I know it’s just a drop in the bucket but if we keep encouraging maybe it will make a difference! Thank you for sharing!

YES!!!! I went home and gathered all the "extra" paper in our house and made lined-paper paper rolls, copy paper booklets, and pencil packs and took them in as filler onThursday. I had no idea how big the need was.

Thanks for sharing, Robynn! I keep hearing of the dire need of paper and pencils. I’m volunteering this coming Friday at the Fullerton, CA center. Bringing with me an additional carload of pencils, sharpeners and notebooks. Hopefully, they will come in handy!

I love seeing all the different processing centers! I can't believe paper and pencils are still such an under donated item at your location! I've never donated filler before but I did this year just based on everyone's feedback that there was a need. I didn't pack much because it was unexpected and I used what I had on hand but next year I do plan on packing more school supply filler. I can't imagine a box without a pencil and paper! Thanks for sharing!

Many boxes cam through with unfinished school/art supplies like crayons and no paper or coloring books and no crayons. One or two pencils with no sharpener and I even saw sharpeners and no pencils. It really was just a mess. I would say 75% of boxes needed some form of paper, pencils, sharpeners or crayons.

@@mattmanandrobynn That's great to know Robyn. People who volunteered giving us feedback on what was missing is the only way we'll know how to help next year! I've already made up my mind that I will be packing 1 or 2 less shoeboxes next year to accommodate making more school supply filler to help other boxes be more complete. Quality over quantity. 🙂

Mine have been processed in Atlanta, Charlotte and Boone in the past, but I'm about half-way between DFW and ATL, so never know! I sent a good bit of filler with mine...pencil packs and rolls of paper (used a gift wrapped empty toilet paper roll to hold). Wish I were close enough to drop more! TFS!

Great to see you so happy and excited to be volunteering. I donated some fillers this year for the first time. I got some document bags from amazon (9.4×7.1 Inch) A5 size. I'm was able to make some booklet using blank copy paper with a card stock cover. I was also able to buy some loose leaf paper and just fold some in half an stick it inside for some extra paper. There is room to put some pencils, pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners, misc. in the bag as well. Mine all had school and art supplies. I wanted to do more but I ran out of time. I thought I'd share just in case anyone else wants to do it next year.

@@mattmanandrobynn 🤔 well, that’s encouraging to know that some volunteers traveled 12 hours! I guess I will have to reevaluate my thought process, but I’m no spring chicken, like you, Robynn 😂. All year I had planned to volunteer, but when it came down to the wire, I thought to myself…you’re 69 and you’re going to drive a 13 year old car, by yourself, pay for gas at $3+/gallon and a hotel stay? What? Are you crazy? Well, the answer to that is “yes”, but by then I had talked myself out of it 😕. Of course, now I’m sorry 😢, but, I will do it next year (when my car and myself are a year older, 😂).
