Volunteering At The Floating Hospital

A long history of community support enables The Floating Hospital to deliver exceptional care to New York City’s most vulnerable families daily, as well as sustain the “more than healthcare” model we strive for in special efforts like Camp Rise Up, Women’s Wellness Days, Candy Cane Lane and more. It is why we are grateful to the volunteers who help us realize our mission and who are featured in this video.
According to Cynthia Davis, our community outreach director, “The Floating Hospital was founded on volunteers. That’s who we are. We cannot stay afloat without our volunteers.” Whether they are equipping our campers to head off to the woods to learn healthy behaviors and vital life skills while they hike and swim, guiding families through the clothing and toys available to them at our holiday event or walking women through the medical and spa services offered on a wellness day, our volunteers provide compassion and selfless assistance to the unhoused New York City families we serve.
“A lot of these patients and families are underserved and really need our support, and being able to make an impact on their lives is something that is invaluable,” Raca, a volunteer, says in the video. Joan, another volunteer, suggests that you join the hospital’s staff in their efforts. “They make a real difference in the lives of families: the women, the children. And if you come here, you get to help them, and it’s really worth everything.”
