Last match we played against a team that were really good at serving. They all had powerful jumpserves and i was kinda caught off guard by it. There arent that many teams that have so good serves in that league. But then one time i almost got a perfect pass on one of them. It was low out i got it forward and after that i was hoping that they would aim at me because it is so fun to pass jump serves!

Hey Erik, seeing your practices is so cool, and it helps seeing someone who’s so good at playing libero, digging up some tough serves. I’m still learning a lot about volleyball, I’ve loved if for a few years now, but I haven’t had the chance to play in a team because I didn’t make the one I tried out for. I’ve been practicing a lot though, and learning a lot, so this year, I’m determined to make the team, I just wanted to thank you for your videos, because they help me a lot :)

try closing your arms pretty late (2m before you contact the ball), and moving the arms independently

I find it hard to tell which passes were slash over the net. ^^' Erik, do passing players ever practice passing serves to the line? Or is is pointless since servers rarely find their aim or this placement makes it very difficult, borderline impossible, to pass?

I know ur not asking me but float is harder to pass, I can easily pass a hard spin jumper (with little curve but only advanced players have alot of curve) then a good float serve

@@thefastturtle8243 it depends. On pro level top spins can get over 120km/h, if u are not in perfect spot it's almost impossible to stop

@@thefastturtle8243 I find recieving good float serve harder as well, but I think its just becouse lack of practice. Most teammates and opponents serve top spin so I have much more exposure to that type of shots (+ spikes tend to be topspins rather then floaties :D ) So I think float serves are in fact bit easier to recieve, but due to more exposure to top spins, players tend to handle them better

It’s a tough question to answer because there are so many factors in play. Both can be very challenging. I think this speed was about 100-105 km/h

It is REALLY interesting that Olek sets up to pass floaters from the 3m line, and you set up half way between the 3m line and the endline. Any chance you can explain a little about why?

Hey Erik, I heard some volleyball professionals around me saying that reception is harder to train than dig or defense. Is it so technically speaking? Is it because you can cooperate with the middle blockers when you're digging a ball? They are both about footwoork and angles to me.

Would you rather play a team with incredible defense or a team with terrifying offense?

what's the speed created here by this machine? some 120km/h?

Does anyone know the brand of the kneepad that Erik is wearing?

Is there anything technique-wise that you should be doing differently when receiving a jump float serve opposed to a top spin jump serve? Thanks for the practice videos! They are super helpful in seeing the specific footwork, angles, and platform adjustments you mention!

Hmmmm theoretically they shouldn’t look much different. But with float serves you’ll have more of a chance to move your feet you get your body in a more comfortable position to create an angle. With float serves I try to think feet first. with jump serves it’s more about creating a strong angle because there isn’t as much time for moving our feet. Thanks for watching!

I was wondering the same thing. I know Shoji explained why he doesn't do it and I accepted it as a valid reason. But now I see Śliwka still does it even with machine. I'm confused now. 😅

Oh yes. There is a difference. The floor we play on normally is GerFlor or Taraflex. It’s more rubbery and softer.

I started playing volleyball in my yard against this shed i had at the house I used to live at. I moved and didn’t play for a while and then my school started a boys team so I joined. We went 1-12. Where I live, volleyball isn’t popular, so we had a team of guys that didn’t know how to play properly. It just sucked cause I consider myself a pretty good player but volleyball is a game with 6 people on the court who have to work good together. I don’t know if you can answer this question, but how do you handle being the only good player on a team? I do my best to lead the team but ultimately, I can’t do it on my own. I’m a spiker now, I used to set but I never enjoyed it so I changed to spiker and I love it but I rarely get to spike a good ball cause our setter isn’t that great. It’s just a frustrating feeling you know? I know that was long🤣 just haven’t gotten to talk to someone about that so thank you for reading of you did. I enjoy your videos and seeing you play inspires me to keep playing
