    Nice Canto coach! The joke at the beginning is that Karasuno are a bunch of country bumpkins who never saw tall towers like "skytree" and "Tokyo tower" so they don't realise you can't see those building in Tokyo suburbs. They just pointed to a normal electric tower. Its kinda like if they went to Toronto and pointed at a lamp post and called that the CN tower.

    Here are clarifications to some of the comments you made, Coach. 1) For the test they were taking, the passing score is 40. 2) The animal mascot for Fukurodani is the horned owl. In japanese, the horned owl is called "fukuro". The horned owl is also the design motif of Fukurodani's ace (the guy you said who looks like Yu-Gi-Oh's protag). 3) Fukurodani's ace, Bokuto, is actually top 5, not the second best spiker in Japan. Ushiwaka is just top 3. 4) Lev's animal motif is lion, not tiger. The tiger is Taketora Yamamoto's, Nekoma's ace and Tanaka's clone. "Tora" in japanese is tiger. The tiger and dragon are known eternal rivals in japanese mythology, which is why Tanaka's first name is Ryuunosuke, because "ryu" is japanese for dragon. 5) Coach Nekomata's comment was supposed to be whether Karasuno would like to improve their current playing style (stability), or if they want to change things up (evolution). In this case, Nekoma opted to evolve by replacing Inuoka, a more defensive-oriented yet experienced middle blocker, with Lev, a very offensive middle blocker who is a total greenhorn. Basically, Coach Nekomata changed the team dynamic by taking a gamble at Lev, who has very atrocious floor defense, passing, and serving skills, which is a complete anti-thesis to Nekoma's tried-and-true playstyle.

    i really like the nekoma coach's comments in this episode because it really sets thee stage for the whole season, and especially the next few episodes. what hes saying for me is that karasuno could simply choose to focus on their strengths and bolster their stability and experience with the tools that theyve got, or they could choose to go out on a limb and try build some new tools and throw their team into uncertainty in the hopes of evolving in to a new team with more strengths. karasuno knows that what theyve got wont work forever against the better teams, so if they want to aim for the top and try beat the best teams, they need to build new tools to break down those walls and evolve.

  • @byusaranicole

    @byusaranicole

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes! This is how I took Coach Nekomata's comments as well. Karasuno has gotten a lot more stable since the last time they played Nekoma, but will they settle for that amount of growth or will they push themselves farther and "evolve" into an even better team? Man, I love this season!

  • @vailingbow1068

    @vailingbow1068

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yeah. Which is why I hated how everyone just kept dismissing Hinata. I mean, they were able to counter against your quick which could be improved and you're not going to do it for more stability? That won't work.

  • @BleydTorvall

    @BleydTorvall

    3 жыл бұрын

    To add to that, Nekoma just faced a similar choice of their own, and chose evolution. When Karasuno first played Nekoma, Nekoma had essentially mastered the defensive tactics they specialized in, which was why Karasuno just couldn't score enough to win a single game. But after Nekoma lost in their tournament, their coach determined that the best way for them to improve was to add something new, to evolve, which is why they're relying on Lev, an offensive specialist who is a bit of a liability everywhere else. That was what the coach was talking about regarding Karasuno. He was noting that while Karasuno's tactics are very strong, they still hadn't been enough to beat Seijo in the tournament, putting them in a similar position to where Nekoma had been. He was wondering if Karasuno would follow a similar path to the one they'd chosen, taking a chance by adding a new facet to their team, or if they planned to simply try harder with the set up they already had.

    I picked this up from another sports anime and I am not sure if this is how things work in other schools too, but in Japan, their club advisers are kind of assigned and forced to do the job and most times, they're just club advisers in name. Then there are those coaches, but they're doing it voluntarily and teach on their own accord so not every team is blessed enough to have a coach of their own. Private instructors get paid though. (I live in Philippines, but we've experienced the same thing. It's hard how we didn't have our own coach, and our teachers doesn't give two shits about what our club was up to so yeah, Karasuno is pretty blessed to have Take-chan and Ukai-san)

    Me too. I mean, this is a teaching job after all and an immense responsibility, also legal one, and to be paid so low is just shameful. Why people pay teachers, and coaches so little and then complain about low education standards. Teachers and coaches are not wizards, they work hard with what they have, and very often it's little or nothing. So more kudos to them, because a teacher and a coach that inspire you can change your whole life.

    our (public) high school does not even have our own gym and we have a relatively small campus as compared to other schools so we spend our pe classes and self-training on the field of grass behind the classrooms. the land is very uneven and the grass is always moist so it's really hard to move around in there and we can only practice passing and barely have hitting practices. we often end up getting bug bites or injuries from slipping and falling so many of my teammates and the students in general are disheartened to do extra practice. it just happened that our school is located beside a small college campus, so from time to time we ask for permission to borrow their makeshift volleyball nets or play on their basketball court for stable footing. they're more than happy to help us whenever their court and equipment are available, but it rarely happens because they are always being used, especially the court :((

    I think the question that the question Nekoma's coach asks towards the end (Do they seek stability to achieve more power or do they seek evolution) is basically asking "Does Karasuno just want to perfect a more stable version of their current selves, or will they choose the harder path of trying to become a fundamentally different team altogether?" Hope this helps!

    so my take on the final comment is this, when the coach said "do they want stability to achieve more power or is it evolution" i think what he meant by that was does this team want to keep things the way they are and get stronger by practicing what they know or will they realize thats not enough and evolve and adapt to the competition

  • @sindri1447
    @sindri14473 жыл бұрын

    That last quote "Are you satisfied with that? Do you want stability or is it evolution?". This is Coach Nekomata saying that stability probably isn't what Karasuno as a team wants or needs. They're a fledgling team with no pride or style of play they feel the need to honor or adhere to. They just ravenously go after any and all weapons that could potentially make the team stronger and Nekomata probably feels this would be the correct way to move forward. While most teams rightfully want stability, Karasuno probably wants and needs something more than that to reach the goals they have set for themselves. Ever expand your arsenal to reach for the horizon.

    To clarify, they are in Tokyo for the jamboree to play the teams that are all in the same league/area except for Karasuno. Each of the four teams "specialize" in a certain aspect of the game, Nekoma is recieving, Fukurodani had Bokuto who is the 3rd ranked ace in the country for his age, Ubogawa is serving, and Shinzen specializes in their synchronized attack. The two main teams to pay attention two are Fukurodani and Nekoma. Also the supplemental exams were because Hinata and Kageyama failed their first exam and the supplemental exam is like a second chance to pass the class/exam.
