Great video, but I think the video dates from before 1989, the golf is still made with small squares, and the typography of the badges and old.

Yet again, thank you ROVR. I have a 1991 Mk2 GTI that I road tripped to Wolfsburg the other year. The Autostadt is an amazing place. Thank you for uploading to see some of the techniques used to make my car.

Does ANYONE HAVE a VW ENGINE FACTORY from the 90's?

I just wonder, and maybe someone would give me a proper answer - what could happen to all those press tooling used to make bodyparts like doors, floor, hood etc. Theoretically if it hasnt been scraped, it could be used to make completly new parts? Is VAG grop holds all this equipment in some warehouses?

These tools have a lifetime, then they are worn out and get scrapped.

As far as I know, there's a company under the VAG Group which still produces spare parts for older cars (Volkswagen Classic Parts, located near the Wolfsburg Factory), I dont know however if they still use the original equipment to produce those same spare parts.

Amazing footage as usual. Im still amazed how rotten all old cars were despite these 'amazing processes' one could almost guess it was completely useless and just halted it a year or 2. My mk2 golf 1.6 driver was literally the worst car I ever owned. What a total POS

It really depended on where you lived. Cars are made of metal pure and simple. True, advances were made on anti rust etc. Cars in hot countries lasted longer than in countries where wet and dampness was a problem. Volkswagen, lost its way a bit with keeping golf very much the same through the mks after mk 2 to this very day.

Several statements regarding robots simply are plain wrong nowdays...

I own a 97 Oldsmobile Achieva. Still pass emissions super clean. But this year 2022 the check engine light stop working at all. So I got fail to pass smog by visual inspection. 😡

When Vw made solid cars and not the chintzy overrated and poorly engineered plastic idiot mobiles of the last 30 years...
