£55k minimum in the UK for a decent spec - that’s mad. Fleets will get huge discounts and it will be worth £30k in a year. Nice car, but just way too expensive.

In Norway it cost only slightly more than half of a Tesla S.
Top Quality review Mark 👍
Great review, and also saw the excellent video with Bob on your cross-country trip! Keep up the good work Mark 👍
Great review Nobby!
My ID4 when I was going through the port tunnel in Dublin was forever slowing down when in cruise control I think based on the speed signs above ground. Also happened a lot on the M7 where those road works were going on at Naas to widen it for like 2 or 3 years and I'd swear it was working off the old speed signs of 60kmph. Problem is the maps hardly ever updated as there was no over the air updates. This ID7 looks a lot better but I still can't get over the controls on the steering wheel and the fact that their haptic feedback.
Awesome review, thank you!!
Thanks Mark. I will shortly be upgrading my ID4 to a 7.
Hi Mark. Great review. I do like the ID7. Is definitely the best produced by VW. But, why oh why, does it not come with a rear window wiper. Not sure it’s an extra. What I do know is that Skoda used to have the rear wiper as a free option. Now it’s £130!! Do manufacturers not care that we can’t see out of the rear window. Madness.

I agree on the wiper, aero criteria seems to be the excuse a lot. Not when you live in Ireland...
I really enjoy watching your reviews, keep up the good work 👍. Thats very expensive but looks nice. Wait 3 years tilll ex lease ones come on the market. Ev`s drop like a stone so would be a good buy if you can make an ev work for you
Who do they think are going to get paying these stupid prices nowadays?

Pcp, the drug that keeps the motor industry alive. It would collapse overnight without it.
Mark. As always a really good, thoughtful review. Your comments regarding the importance to VW this iD7 model is took my breath away. This thing is ugly as hell. [ Getting close to the god awful Tesla range.... which sets the bar so low nothing could be that bad. But many brands...Kia and the like are certainly trying to get to their awful designs and sizes.] I digress! No, this certainly cannot be the future of VW. The brand that brought us the Golf and Polo. The iD2 is hopefully the model that will bring VW back to where it belongs. The entire, thus far ID range, starting with the iD3 has been a complete disaster for the VW Group. Thanks again, the channel is fantastic.
Great video Mark. You mentioned that the car brakef itself for no reason sounds like an accident waiting to happen

Not the first car with travel assist that I've had it happen in. Still not sure if a mapping issue or car issue though.
Cheers mate
very good review, makes a nice change to hear true review, all you normally here is the same crap about buttons and software, do all other presenters just copy each other and no opinions of there own ? great review put across well.
Thank you
Looks smart, but the prices of new cars are .... crazy.
Hmm, this or a £30k Skoda superb estate 2.0tdi in the U.K?
It kind of reminds me of the 2001 Citroen C5 .
Thank you for the video Mark. I think the ID 7 could be my first EV, but that could be two years away. Having to travel for work and carrying a lot of work items, I'd jump at an estate version of it. Do you think any of VW's sister companies may bring out something similar?
@NobbyOnCars

They absolutely will, Audi being one, Skoda are a little quiet on something similar for now.
Great review, and a lovely looking car. Got an ID.4 on the new platform on the way, so glad to hear they seem to have ironed a lot of the issues out. Hopefully you get your hands on one of those soon, so we can see how it compares to the one you reviewed previously.

Me too - getting good reviews in general though
Ya couldn't get the charger to work in Lahinch last week and you got frostbite in your feet on the way home...... trying to stretch the range!!!!
Great car, if overpriced (like most!). I’m going to wait on the LR/86-spec Tourer, which could almost be the perfect EV! Though, as has been mentioned, depreciation will be high; probably better to buy a low-mileage 1-2 y/o model.
Great review again nobby. Agree 100% re the lift back vs saloon. I must be missing something, but i can't see any reason why cars have the saloon narrow aperture opening as opposed to the lift back/hatchback. It doesn't affect styling. Like in that id 7, initial look around, is it a hatch or a saloon... who knows until it's opened.
there's a stretch of the M4 after joining from the M6 that both my car and my partners car, both WAG cars, slow down to 80 from 120 when we use ACC because the satnav thinks were on the adjacent N road. It's really annoying.

It's not just a VAG thing. I have experienced multiple cars with camera that read road signs that got confused by the odd signs that are damaged, twisted, on a different road but visible to the car. I just turn the "adapt to road sign speed" part of assist system off on them. No more slamming on brakes, but they still prompt me the speed so I can adjust as needed.

There's a roundabout on an A road here where my wife's GTI CS correctly slows down for (with the target speed displayed etc). But - every time after it comes to a stop it accelerates hard onto the (large) roundabout so that you have to immediately cancel Drive Assist or you will be taken rapidly back to 70mph. At best it's a 25-30mph roundabout. Obviously we now don't engage DA until after that point, but as you've said these systems are not perfect.
Good review, a bit pricey. Would you recommend a heat pump if considering the ID7 or indeed any VW EV?

Unless you're trying to squeeze every last km out of your range due to long journeys, I'm not sure it's worth it. I'd use the money for something else in the car that you might use more.

Heat pumps add about 10% range in ideal conditions , nice to have but I wouldn't pay 1k extra to get one.
Regarding the software, my 2022 ID.3 has recently got software 3.3 and it has lots of bugs which were not there before. The speed sign system picks up 120 kmh signs on the M50 in the same spot every time. There are NO 120 kmh signs anywhere on the M50 that I can see. I have had a lot of problems with this car. VW can’t seem to get anything right. I definitely won’t be changing for another one.

Southbound after Sandyford and Bray as far north as Sandyford is 120 but that’s not where you mean. I wonder will a speeding ticket believe the story of the car did it also!!

I regularly travel on the M50 from the M1 to Dundrum. The 120km speed signs show up at the Office/Yard before N4 turn off heading south and between N4 and N3 junctions heading north. This has been happening for 2 - 3 years or more. It also happened with my previous car (A VW Passat) is it a VW issue???😂
I have a 21 id4 and with VW as long as you accept there will be next to no meaningfull software updates at all. As the hardware goes its great to drive just let down by poor software imo
A stretched ID4
Have to say it's some bus in terms of size but the price would make it a no. Also to say you've driven it without any issues isn't really true given that I've seen the video you did with Bob and his diesel Audi and because of the infrastructure issues you ran into which I will concede wasn't the car's fault it meant that you had to drive much slower to get back to where you started from whereas if it's have been a hybrid you wouldn't have had that issue.
@NobbyOnCars

Not a car issue though to be fair, that's just our rubbish (at times) network. Compared to many other EVs that I've driven, this one was headache free.
Great review , a fab EV , but unfortunately to dear .
I still prefer The Superb

Tough act to beat.
even VW wants to go back to the Hybrid cars..
It’s fine until the car slams brakes on with no warning. 😲 Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
I'd definitely would not buy this car, as slamming on the brakes, for no reason, is highly dangerous I've been rear ended on a motorway & not a nice experience. Hate all this tech that takes control from the driver, just ask Tesla, who are being sued in the courts. Daft price, watch the depreciation.

I have had an id4 for almost 2 years now. I have never experienced this slamming of brakes. What has your exact experience been? What car do you drive?
Does aerodynamic have to mean bland. I know it's not like for like but compared to Bobs Audi it just looks so bland. Give me a well dressed Audi A 3/4 any day of the week.
Well done China
Another ' no thanks '
Report card: Really excellent, could do better. Known to spread huge lies for personal gratification. Trust remains a week point.
Yet again another vw fan boy review, this car is overpriced with a boring interior...and let's not forget dangerous..slamming the brakes on
