The ID.4 is Volkswagen Group’s most popular all-electric model, with 190,000 units delivered to customers globally since its launch in 2021.Volkswagen aims to ramp up ID.4 assembly in Chattanooga to 7,000 vehicles per month later this year, with the goal to further increase output through 2023. Consumers can expect vehicles to be delivered as early as October 2022. Initially, the American-assembled ID.4 will be available in either rear-wheel- or all-wheel-drive 82kWh battery form. In addition, a rear-wheel-drive version with a 62kWh battery will go into production later in 2022, with a lower MSRP.
“We’re just starting to write a new chapter for Volkswagen in America, and it is very much an American story,” said Thomas Schäfer, Chairman of the global Volkswagen brand. “When we promised to bring Volkswagen EVs to the millions, it always included American workers building those EVs right there in Chattanooga. We couldn’t be prouder to see that vision realized today with our ID.4 electric flagship rolling off the lines. This is another milestone in Volkswagen’s ambitious electrification strategy for the U.S. market and globally.”
The start of production is the result of Volkswagen’s $800 million investment into the electrification of its Chattanooga factory, including dedicated facilities for vehicle and battery pack assembly. The factory in Tennessee is now the sixth global site to produce vehicles for Volkswagen’s electric line-up.
The American-assembled ID.4, Volkswagen’s electric SUV flagship, will be mainly sourced in the North American region1, particularly the United States. The vehicle includes materials and components assembled in 11 U.S. states, from steel in Alabama and Ohio, to interior parts in Indiana and South Carolina, and electronics components in Kentucky and North Carolina. The EV battery will be supplied by SK Innovation located in Georgia.

loved watching the guys put the doors on. reminds me of when i bought my Avalanche in 2006. I received a call from the shop foreman after purchase to ask how it was going. Nice to be connected to the individuals building these machines.

It's a great car, now that they've worked out the software issues.
Is it just me, or are those robots at the beginning pretty scary?
You can tell quality builds VW by American 👍👍👍
Nice video showing details and of training. Like other German cars, severely lacking DFM. Also not shown is the critical installation of the key part: Farfegnugen!

I'm hoping the gray color we see here is the 2023 model pure gray. It looks so dark while building the configuration but looks great here.

this is the start of the production you can see people bean trained and a lot launching team present supervising the production line but I sure hope that the guy torquing the battery pack over his head is not doing this all day because he will surely suffer pain in his harms and sholder .
Why do they always miss out the best bit: the bare shells being submerged in primer?

Right, i don't trust factories when they skip the hot dip galvanizing in a video! i only buy cars when i know for sure they got the hot dip galvanizing bath.

They sure did! Full $7500 tax incentive, which they deduct from the purchase price if you lease.
No I’d 4 in Ontario Canada, Vw taking reservations for 23 only. No 22 available.

Not still, drum breaks again! The experience with the eGolf showed them that disc brakes are rarely used in electric cars and have serious problems with corrosion. The drum breaks will not rust and have never to be replaced.

Brakes are rarely used in EVs and drum brakes are a much less complex and inexpensive option, so it makes sense.
It appears the car is almost hand built. Not good. Lots of chances for mistakes.
What kind of annoying background music they have at the plant?

نحن في الاردن البعض منا يعاني من فولكسفاجن id4 وليس الكل ، هناك من يقول ان الشاشة تتعطل في أي وقت ولا يوجد كفالة والوكيل الرسمي لشركة فولكسفاجن الاردن لا يستورد هذه السيارات، وانا شخصياً أثق جداً بالصناعة الامريكية ولا افضل الصناعة الصينية سيئة الصيت، حيث ان هذه السيارات تأتينا من الصين
