Ilia pivots a lot off that front leg which leaves him open to chopping leg kicks. If he’s at all heavy on that leg Volk will tear it up. Not to mention the inside kicks which will be there all day. I can see Volk landing those and setting up the lead head kick. Jai Herbert hit him with it and Volk has underrated head kicks. As Volk’s fighting someone near his own height I expect to see that lead head kick a lot, like he did against Aldo. Volk also has a beautiful shifting right hook to counter Ilia’s pivots. Not to mention how fast his footwork is in general. Volk definitely has the speed advantage and cardio advantage. Volk gets it done by 4th round TKO

If you actually thought MJ was serious about Volk you are in need of an IQ test m8. he was just respectful. He was 100% sure Volk would lose but people are so blind, so clueless, so completely detached from reality that they actually believed Volk had a chance.

I'd love to see you against some of these guys. I really do think you'd find an answer for Merab. If I had a guess it would be a sneaky sub while he goes for 1 of his 100 takedown attempts in 3 rounds.

Biggest things ive noticed is Ilia does have rly smooth boxing, but he opens up so much. He got hit with a headkick in the middle of a combo. You really shouldnt be gettin hit like that. Grsnted he survived it but being thst open against a world class fighter like volk is dangerous.. On the other hand volk did just get knocked out and is kinda pushing the age limit. Only Thing givin me butterflies is finding out how much the knockout changed him

@@jonas9835 Ya, I hope people don’t get me wrong I really really really don’t want to see Volk lose first of all. Ilia does leave himself open but when he does he is exacting powerful offense. That Jai kick was perfect timing and he ate a punch for it (too perfect to be planned). Ilia’s following fights, it showed he learned from that head kick - as his competitors tried to replicate it.

We have. He’s yet to prove himself against the elite and that’s the truth. He let the crowd and Volk get under his skin at the presser, IMO this is too big a step up for him and too quickly. Volks coolness and experience are going to drown him

Thats my second favorite fight on the card. Merab is so good at weaponizing pace with his takedowns, it is interesting to see how his style will hold up against an olympian.

Agree regarding Volk vs. Ilia. Volk's IQ is insane and has yet to show how after a full camp that any featherweight can beat him. Granted Ilia may have what it takes but Volk has the ability to shut people down. Should be a banger.

He throws the left hook to the body & his right guard drops to his waist while his chin goes straight up. Can see Volk waiting on that to time a left check hook or a left straight to wobble Ilia then finish him via G&P.
