If you want to avoid expensive shipping due to us living in Australia, here is a little work around on Amazon (can do the same on ebay using www.ebay.com.au) which some people have used and made it a lot more affordable. We just wanted to share this with those who this may concern.
1. Go to top right of Amazon homepage where it has your country flag and language showing
2. Click change country/region on dropdown menu
3. Change country to Australia
4. Amazon page will change all products to those in Australian warehouses. Put items in cart, send to S&P PO box address as you normally would. Should be minimal shipping because its shipping from within Australia

As you probably already know, there was a series of seven books. There are eight movies, because they split the last book into two parts. However, starting with this book/movie, they could've split all these into two movies. They stories get more complicated and more stuff is left out of the movie. I would recommend reading the books, because there's a lot more detail in them that is completely missing from the movies. Especially in this movie.

Yes. This was the worst director, although Yates it's up there too. A personal theory of mine is that he was high on cocaine the whole production phase. Not only his Dumbledore was acting OOC, but also Moody was doing those stupid tongue ticks and acting goofy. Also Barty Crouch Senior acting was cartoonish too, especially the scene when he is giving the speech about the Tournament rules. And Igor was another goofy cartoonish character. I think this director is an imbecile. Didn't understood the assingment and shat the bed. He treated this adaptation as a childlish movie for babies or something. He also broke a rib trying to teach the twins how to properly wrestle. I cannot come up with this. He said himself in an interview! Tell me this guy wasn't sniffing coke every hour during production? @@MFBloosh

Stuff from the book not in the movie: Barty Crouch doesn't leave his son in Azkaban. His wife takes their son's place (they use polyjuice potion) and dies there. That's why nobody suspects him, everyone thinks he's dead. Barty Crouch puts his son under the imperious curse and makes his house elf keep an eye on him. At the quidditch world cup, Barty Crouch Jr. uses Harry's wand to create the dark mark in the sky. The fake Mad-eye Moody actually performs the imperious curse on the students. Harry is the only one who breaks out of it. At one point, Harry notices "Barty Crouch" (Jr, of course. But that isn't known until later in the book) in Snape's office by looking at the Marauders' map. He goes to investigate but it's worried that Snape might catch him. Mad-eye can see him through his invisibility cloak and helps him escape from Snape. He borrows the Marauders' map from Harry. Dobby starts working in the Hogwarts kitchens for pay. Barty Crouch's house elf also goes there because he lets her go. Dobby helps him with the gillyweed, not Neville. Hermione is disgusted by the slavery of house elves and forms a society for their welfare. Harry and Voldemort's wands have the same core, that's why they can't kill each other. When such wands are forced to fight, they lead to an effect called "Priori Incantatem", or revealing previous spells cast by the wand. That's what happens to Voldemort's wand. Harry gives the money won from the Triwizard tournament to Fred and George to help with their joke shop.

There is also a subplot with the Weasley twins, and another character not mentioned in the movie. Ludovic "Ludo" Bagman, Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports at the Ministry of Magic, makes several bets on the outcome of the Quidditch World Cup, including one with Fred and George, who bet their entire life savings (over 37 Galleons) that Ireland would win, but Viktor Krum would catch the Golden Snitch. As fate would have it, that's exactly how the match played out. So Bagman paid the twins back, but he used leprechaun gold, which vanishes after a while. And he later got cornered by a gang of goblins who robbed him of all the money he had, which still wasn't enough to cover all the debts he accumulated betting on the match. The twins were not very happy with Bagman's skullduggery, so they spent half their time in book 4 trying to bully Bagman into paying them back in earnest, even going as far as blackmailing him. And as Bagman is Head of Games and Sports, he must spend a lot of time at Hogwarts during the tournament, and he spends half his time ducking the twins. Eventually he places a massive bet with the goblins on Harry to win the tournament which would get him more than enough to pay off all his debt. But because Harry and Cedric took the Cup together, the goblins considered that a draw and not a solid win. And so Bagman was forced to go into hiding, and we never hear from him again. Fred and George spend the other half of their time in this year developing prototype products for their dream joke shop, which you will see more of in the coming films so stay tuned. And as was mentioned before, Harry gives his Triwizard winnings (1K Galleons) to the twins to give them an extra boost for the shop.

The reason why Neville is so stressed seeing the Cruciatus curse is because his parents got tortured with it by one of Voldemorts lackeys, which caused them both to lose their minds and they can not be healed. It's sadly not mentioined in the movies as it's probably the most important part about this character

Prior Incantatem let's you see a shadow of the previous spell cast. For Voldemort, he used the killing curse so it brought shadows of his last few victims back. The type of duel Harry and Voldemort has is unique because their wands share the same core from Fawkes the Phoenix. These are things in the book not explained in the movies very well.

Don't forget the shit show that was HBP. Nobody understood the real indentity HBP was a big deal. The Voldemort's memories where cut short by half or more in favor of more teeenage rom-com sillyness. We got robbed of Dumbledore visiting the Dursley at the beginning, fuck that was one hell of a scene in the books! In favor of more homornal teenager shit. The Slughorn first encounter and Dumbledore & Harry at the Cave was one hell of scene, similar Dumbledore's demise. Well done. OOTP this was also a shame. Especially getting rid of the true scope of the aftermath at Headmaster's office, where Harry explodes with rage, this was one of the best scenes of the books. Its so cathartic. And Dumbledore characterization is more humanized, he even sheds a tear! He says many things about the prophecy that was cut short in the films, so movie fans will forever misundertand the nature of the prophecy between the two wizards. There are more scenes cut short but that one hurt a lot, not only that film but the whole movie franchise afterwards. It also gave us the still annoying fans thinking Dumbledore was this evil mastermind plotting to sacrifice Harry without emotion. Such a stupid take but if you only watch the movies it's maybe a fair take, thanks to the also stupid fuck up in the last film with the Prince's Memories, "Always" and adding Snape in the fucking crime scene in Godric's Hollow dramatically holding Lily's corpse... jesus fuckin christ. This is Not a spoiler. In the book "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", Dumbledore explained to Harry that Priori Incantatem is what happened when their two wands with matching wand core connected. If you recall from the very first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone or Philosopher's Stone when Harry got his wand Mr. Olivander said that the phoenix feather in Harry's wand had a matching feather in another wand that came from the same exact phoenix. The person that has the other feather in his wand is Voldemort. Harry found out in the book version of Goblet of Fire that the phoenix was Dumbledore's bird, Fawks. Because Harry and Voldemort has matching wand cores it means the wands are equal in power and relation. The wands really are brothers. As Harry's wand began to slowly beat Voldemort's wand it caused the Piori Incantatem spell to happen. That means the last few spells that a wand made reveals itself. So in this case not only did the last few murders that Voldemort's wand made expose itself to everyone in the graveyard, in the book version it also showed Wormtail's new silvery hand first as well. 🪄💥⚡️🪄

Because he was one of the dark wizards that used it on Nevilles parents and caused them to go insane and have to be committed. Yeah the books, as well as the movies, get super dark from here going forward.

When it comes to age, education at Hogwarts begins at the age of 11 and continues until the 7th grade, i.e. until the age of 17. Each film covers approximately a school year, so now Harry and Ron are in their 4th year, so they are 14 years old. The twins Fred and George are 2 years older than them, so they are now 16 years old and are only a year away, and Ron's sister Ginny is a year younger, so she is 13 years old. And generally, in wizarding law, a wizard who turns 17 is considered an adult because in Hogwarts also ends in this age.

PRIORI INCANTATEM! Because both wands share a core, crossing beams is a bad idea, generates unexpected results, and when the beam reached Voldie's wand, it instigated a spell called Priori Incantatem, which is a spell that reveals the last spells that a wand has cast (Like a wand history browser). That's why the old man, Cedric, and Harry's Parents appeared, as they were the last kills by that wand.

This was not mentioned in the movies. The Riddle grave are the graves of Tom Riddle and his parents Tom & Mary Riddle (Voldemort's muggle father and grandparents). In fact, that old man in the beginning of the movie Frank Bryce was the caretaker of the Riddle manor. He was initially accused of murdering the Riddles, but was released when they couldn't find any concrete evidence against him. Their autopsies were inconclusive. The Riddles were clearly murdered by the killing curse. Frank told the police that on the day of the Riddles' deaths, he had seen a pale faced teenage boy approaching the manor. No one in village believed him and assumed that Frank had made this up. The truth is that when Voldemort was 16, using his middle name, Marvolo (his maternal grandfather's name), he tracked down his mother's relatives, who told him about his father abandoning his mother because she was a witch. He went to the manor and murdered his father and grandparents as revenge for abandoning him. The shear irony is that despite Voldemort's hatred of his relatives, he used Riddle manor as a hideout where they were discovered by Bryce. Moreover he had his rebirth at Little Hangleton cemetery where his muggle family is buried. Regarding his looks - when he was younger he was a miniature version of his handsome and attractive father. He had initially held him in high esteem. However when he learnt the truth about him, he shed his birth name and after school transfigured his face to be snake like to highlight his relation to Salazar Slytherin who like him was a parcelmouth.

It just isn't nearly as haunting in the movie, because Cedric in a way *is* the spare here, having touched the trophy only because of Harry's kindness and thus brought along by Harry, who really, by merit *and* by Voldemort's plan, should have come alone. In the book, the "spare" label on Cedric strikes so much more unfairly since it's Cedric who is the true Triwizard Champion and Harry who wouldn't have been there if not for Cedric.

Fans of the books have long made fun of Dumbledore's "DID YA PUT YAH NAME IN DA GOLBET OF FIYAH?" because it is clearly stated "Dumbledoe asked CALMLY". Just one example of how film Dumbledore is different from book Dumbledore AND how Michael Gambon's Dumbledore is different from Richard Harris' Dumbledore. Both great, just different. As always there's are some things in the book that are not in the film. Most of it is not THAT important but one thing I love that is missing is a subplot involving Hermione forming S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare), a group/organisation to liberate Hogwarts' enslaved house-elves. Winky the house-elf who serves the Crouch family is an important character in the book, as is Dobby (he gives Harry the Gillyweed instead of Neville). Remember in the first film when Ollivander says to Harry that the core of his wand was made from a feather of the same phoenix as Voldemort's (more specifically Dumbledore's phoenix aka Fawkes)? The Priori Incantatem, or Reverse Spell, effect occurs when such 'brother wands' connect in a duel. The winner's wand (Harry's) forces the loser's wand (Voldemort's) to produce "echoes" of their most recent spells performed in reverse order. So when Harry sees Cedric, the muggle from the beginning and his parents, that is the reverse order in which they were killed by Voldemort's wand. The reason Barty Crouch Sr. looks at fake Mad Eye Moody like that is because he starts doing the weird thing with his tongue his son always does. Crouch Jr. did the same thing with his tongue when Harry saw the memory from the trial. Fun fact: The tongue tick was not in the book and was improvised by David Tennant who plays Crouch Jr. Brendan Gleeson (Mad Eye Moody) then added the quirk to a few of his scenes as a hint to his real identity. The thing with Ron is that he has always had this inferiority complex. He grew up in the shadow of his siblings (mainly his brothers) and, being Harry Potter's best friend, ends up in his shadow. In the first film, he sees himself in the Mirror of Erised as head boy and Quidditch captain covered in glory. He is envious of the chance to compete for riches and glory, and the idea that Harry may not have put his name in the Goblet of Fire doesn't even cross his mind because he is so blinded by envy. That's why he's such an ass in the first part of the film. During the trial when Igor is exposing Barty’s son, he mentions that he was involved in the torture of the Longbottoms, who are indeed Neville’s parents (which explains why he is so upset when "Moody" demonstrates the Cruciatus curse in class - because it was used on his parents). And yes, "Moody" was talking about Harry being the only one to ever survive the Killing Curse. Also, during the trial, Dumbledore says that Snape was indeed a Death Eater at one point but is not anymore. Voldemort’s appearance is a physical manifestation of how evil his soul has become. Plus, as the heir of Slytherin, where the symbol is a snake, he has snakelike nasal slits. Victor Krum is under the Imperius Curse (one of the three unforgivable curses) in the maze. The victim basically has no control over their actions and is obedient to whomever casted the spell (in this case Barty Crouch Jr). They are placed in a trance-like state, hence why his eyes are like that. In the book, Harry and Cedric are tied for first place, but with Cedric dead, Harry is declared the winner. He is rewarded with a large sum of money, but struck with immense guilt over Cedric's death he offers it to Cedric's parents, who politely decline. He gives the money to Fred and George instead who use it to open a joke shop. Hermione's "Everything is going to change now isn't it?" simply means because Voldemort has truly and fully returned. Lastly, Cedric's dad's cries are absolutely heartbreaking. That actor did a phenomenal job portraying a father who just lost his son.

The books are so much richer than what they can put in the movies. If you really want to know about the world and learn more about the other schools or what Dobbey has been up to this whole time since he was freed or what happened to Neville and what really happened at the world cup, or how Barty Crouch jr really got out of Azkaban, all of it is in the books. The movies are good, but they mostly just introduce things when it has to be there to advance the main storyline. There are so many minor plotpoints and storylines that tie together. I don't know how much they consulted Rowling making the movies, but it seems like they didn't always. Many of the movies were made before the last books were written and that meant that some things that actually seem small mattered later, and it doesn't seem the movie always included them.

This is another reason why movies or series based on books should not be make until said books are finished because you don't know what is important in the beginning until you have made it to the end. It happened to Game of Thrones and now GRR Martin seems to have no inclination to finish them. One that did well recently based on books was The Last Kingdom which was based on The Saxon series of books by Bernard Cornwell but the books series was nearly finished when they started shooting and I believe they were in close contact with Cornwell throughout production.

You'd think Harry would've noticed the red flag by then. First of all, he's been dreaming about the graveyard and wormtail. Next, was his name coming out of the goblet and then for some reason, nothing suspicious happened during the tournament. With the way something happened within the last 3 years, I would've sense something.

It's even more tragic in the book because the roles were reversed and it was Cedric who won the tournament fair and square (even despite Crouch Jr. manipulating events in Harry's favour) but went back to save Harry and then insisted they shared the victory. In the movie, one could argue that Cedric didn't fully deserve to take the trophy, and thus that his willingness to take undeserved credit caused his death -- an overly harsh punishment, obviously, but nevertheless the consequence of a moral failure. But in the book, he did fully deserve to take the trophy, he did absolutely nothing wrong except be a true champion and even went above and beyond in being a good person towards Harry, so not only was death a disproportionate punishment, it was a punishment given to someone who deserved absolutely no punishment whatsoever. From an outside perspective, this is tragic for Cedric and for the world in general. But even for Harry, although he doesn't have guilt about letting Cedric take the trophy, because that was not his decision, this may be the more tragic of the two versions. Harry is very empathetic, so the absurd unfairness and tragedy of Cedric's absolutely undeserved death weighs heavily on him even if he is not at fault, and at the same time, he does feel like it's his fault, simply because it was a plot aimed at him -- *his* battle -- that Cedric got caught in. Furthermore, because Harry hasn't really earned his share in the victory and rather considers Cedric the real winner, being named the sole winner despite his protests causes him to develop a strong sense of impostor syndrome on top of his survivor's guilt, which for years afterwards makes it emotionally difficult for him to accept credit or admiration, even when deserved, and it haunts him that Cedric was labeled "the spare" when Cedric was really the rightful main protagonist of the whole situation in Harry's eyes.

Roger Lloyd Pack and David Tennant, who played the elder and junior versions of Barty Crouch respectively, would later work together in two episodes of Doctor Who, with Tennant playing the Doctor and Pack playing John Lumic, the creator on an alternate Earth of the Cybermen. The first time I saw this movie it took me ages to recognize Tennant. I knew he was familiar, but it took longer than I care to admit to realize he was the new Doctor, and had seen him at the end of the 9th Doctor's final episode.

Imagine watching the lesson on the 3 unforgivable curses as a kid and on the killing curse Moody goes "No one has survived it, except one" then cut to Harry superhero camera angle. Or the graveyard battle you have Harry, who is essentially in high school, go up against the most feared dark wizard.. and win. It was definitely a crazy experience watching all these movies as a kid and even growing up as they came out.

It’s not exactly explained in the movie but this isn’t a spoiler because it was said in the first movie when Harry bought his wand. Harry and Voldemort’s wands have the same core- a feather from the same phoenix (funnily enough, it was from Fawkes, Dumbledore’s phoenix). This makes it incredibly difficult for them to fight each other because the wands recognize each other as if they were twins. A reaction called “priori incantatem” can be forced on one of the wands, which will make it regurgitate shadows of the last spells it performed. Since Voldemort lost his powers and hasn’t had his wand for a while, we see the shadows of the murders of Harry’s parents (from 13 years ago) as well as the fresher murders of the muggle caretaker and Cedric Diggory.

In the book there was a lot more backstory on Barty Crouch and his son, Jr. He was a death eater involved with the torture of Neville’s parents and actually faked his own death in prison by switching places with his dying mother. Then his father controlled him under the imperious curse until he broke free at the quidditch World Cup and switched places with Mad-eye Moody shortly before school started. Harry never saw him in the dream

priori incantatem, is a spell used to show the spells of a wand in reverse order (last to first). During the struggle with voldemort harry pushed the connection between their wands back into voldemorts wand forcing it into an artificial priori incantatem. Since the last spells are his kills of cedric, the old man and harrys parents those were the first to come out. If he had kept the connection there would have been more. thats all I remember about it.
