25:02 I had a coworker in a sheetmetal shop who tried to make a spring out of safety wire.... This was the kid that anyone who wants to keep their life insurance policy premiums low needs to stay away from. This same kid decided to avoid using a face shield while using a etching scribe to remove a stuck bolt in a propeller and then proceeded to pull the scribe with both hands and then stabbed his cheekbone so deep that it took effort to un-impale his cheek... he did not go to the hospital even though we told him "You realllly need to get your ass to a hospital." I feel that even mentioning this ex-coworker is enough to put everyone else in danger due to how much of a walking hazard he was.

I've also played Gothic 3 and I LOVED the fact that you could carry an infinite amount of stuff. No need to waste hours on inventory management or going back and forth between dungeons and your home/hub to stash things, you just grab everything you find and keep slaying monsters or exploring the game world. More RPGs should have that.

I've put a lot of hours into this game in all different stages of its development, I've used the Epic launcher for nothing else but this. It has a great loop and it improved a lot over time but I'm still waiting for something significant to be added, like more story or boss fights or something like that. Right now its still missing an endgame and a real story

This is one of those kinds of reviews I really appreciate. I hadn't noticed a LOT of the graphical fine tuning that Splatty talked about, and to me it looked visually quite dull and lifeless. Lots of browns and greys kind of thing. But once Splatty pointed out things like lighting and reflections I went back and looked and he's totally right, it's really impressive.

I get it, inventory management is such a hassle but it is also a balancing mechanic. Some games let you have a stash that is unlimited weight and then "Battle inventory", mostly RPGs though. I think Pillars of eternity did that. I find that a nice compromise. You can loot your heart's content, but you have to pick and choose what to bring to a battle or a dungeon run.

I'd have to skip this. Non-stackable and diverse weapon mods + tiny inventory = a big nerp from me. (The head bob doesn't help either) They should make the different kinds of weapon mods become a crafting selection after you loot one, instead of remaining an actual inventory item. Basically once you pick up the item you know how to make it and all you have to need is a generic receiver or grip or barrel, whatever and it becomes one of the types you know how to make when you assemble it.

first off you can get stuff to increase inventory space and storage space WHICH you can craft from you have to research the container to do so like the ones at the train stations. just cause a game is epic exclusive doesn't make it bad just the company behind it may be. the other two points... well i agree with you there but all in all the games very fun but in the end its my personal opinion. (pardon my grammer im a little tired today)

  • @soulwynd

    @soulwynd

@@johnnygames857 I think that using inconveniences as progression is bad game design. But I suppose that is a matter of patience, I just would rather have fun than waste my time to eventually not be bothered by something. At least it is less bad than never getting those upgrades, like some other games. And being epic exclusive means the money mattered more than the players. I do agree with epic that the stores take too much of a cut, but the way they go around it is all wrong, forcing a divide instead of encouraging consumers. So yeah, I refuse to touch things that make part of the third party exclusivity nonsense. Plus they were already paid by epic to compensate to money they'd not get from people like me, so fuck them.

25:20 Actually I worked in a spring manufacturing facility once for about 3 days, and yes they are jam packed with all kinds of highly specialized spring making tools there. Wire is fed off of many thousand foot spools in whatever gauge they need, and the dies just endlessly spit out springs, 24/7/365. The tools can do nothing but bend wire, that is their only job, but they do it with extreme speed and precision.

I believe a great addition to the game, maybe in harder difficulties. A physics mechanic where if you're in the "Void", weightless and swimming, firing a weapon that has recoil could push the PC in the opposite direction and decrease the damage output of the weapon to account for Newtons' domestic violence law. :D

  • @adtrlthegamer7449

You would need a rifle or shotgun for any real knockback to be a thing, the pistol would probably slight stumble. You have to take your character's Mass and the mass of the weapon+the recoil into account, thus why I'm saying the pistol wouldn't really do much or you wouldn't notice unless you really focused that you're moving slightly back.

Maybe when you are in the void you can shoot a gun rapidly and since guns have recoiled that go up you would start spinning. Turn into a blade saw because of how fast you are spinning. And then crash into an enemy and it like one shots every enemy in a 1 mile radius

Everything I've seen from this game says that it's really cool, but in dire need of simply more content. Increased pacing and more excitement. The slow stuff works, they got that on point and have for like the past year. Now they need more excitement and a real goal to push for.

First of all thanks for the video I really enjoy your work, I know there's probably a reason but if the inventory is restricting you can you build way more boxes than needed to store your current amount of stuff?

You made this sound like an old game, but if you go to Steam it is Early access, but also somehow not available for purchase. It looks like it will be released into EA in 5 days?

Hey devs, if you're making a game with an inventory space, once you decided what grid size you think works best, add one more row. Thank you. Btw, the game sort of reminds me of my 1st experience with No Man Sky, the 1st planet and enemies looked awesome, then I realize that the rest of the planets all have the same enemies and only 1 biome each. Swap the planets for the realms and it's the exact same thing here: Get into a new world, wow it looks nice, then the rest of the ride is just more of the same visually and you already know what enemies you'll run into, except this time you're waiting on a boring train that slowly goes straight. Add overbearing hours of tutorials on top of that to make sure I don't get the satisfaction of figuring things out from what's left to do in the game and that's a hard pass for me. Seems to me like it's the kind of game that will look good in trailers and disappoint quickly.

@Splattercatgaming Any chance you could do a video where you list off your top games of the past year or two? Maybe put in some links so we can look at your reviews?

Tbh, I'm like you in this way. I hate any and all forms of inventory and stash limits. It's actually really one of the reasons I don't buy certain games, I'd otherwise enjoy.

Even if the game is a mil-sim, or 'hardcore' survival game or such? For example, STALKER had a burdensome inventory limit, but I wouldn't have it any other way with that game. Also, In ArmA, being able to run around with an infinite inventory weight/space would totally break the immersion there, as well as the gameplay.

@@sunnyjim1355 Yeah, even there. Although, I don't see STALKER as military simulation. It's a atmospheric horror-shooter for me. To me, inventory limits are just annoying. I mean, what would ever keep me from going back and forth until I got all the stuff sold, like in STALKER. Yeah, I played it too, actually all STALKER games, and the inventory limit really bothered me, because I had to walk the same way several times just to sell all the loot I didn't need. Games are there so people can unwind, to reduce stress. Not to get more stress, by being caged in with useless mechanics like limited inventory and/or limited stash. I do not need "realism" in most games. Especially not in games that have no "realism" to begin with, like any fantasy, horror or sci-fi game. Inventory limits should be optional, for those whom like such stuff in games, or like to play them with some mechanics that ad a certain degree of realism. Life is stressful enough as it is, I don't need that kind of stress in my hobby. Limited inventory is for me like head-bobbing, blur, or vignette. Totally useless, unless you play real mil-sims like Battlefield or whatever. Never played such games though.

I both love and hate these months where Splatter is over the top with have to post vids while everything comes out. I still want him to do videos for games like baurotrama, but at the same time, he's also gotta do a wartales vid cause i think it released for 1.0, but he's also gotta factor in his sponsorship and freeby segments, and finally, he's gotta be true to his fun self that goes through his weird phases.

Love the fact that you didn't cover this game because everyone was hyping on it. And love the fact even more that the game hasn't even left early access but already ditched epic exlusive and went out full on steam too. Now GoG remains.

380acp is a short, rimless cartridge so it is unlikely to be used in a revolver. .38spl is a common revolver round though which definitely has more recoil than 380acp and is only .1mm larger in diameter. .357Mag is the same diameter as .38 but has much more recoil due to a longer cartridge and more powder being used. For example, when using the same bullet you can load 4.5 grains of Bullseye handgun powder into a .38spl, but you would use up to 8.7 grains in a .357Mag. I get that you don't all of that to decide if a gun in a game feels like it has too much recoil but having shot a lot of revolver that recoil did not seem unreasonable to me.

I watched the last video about it a two weeks ago because Epic suggested the game to me all the time. It was very underwhelming. Excited to see how it has changed!
