Voiceplay is absolutely amazing. They are independent, no label or manager, complete artistic control. But also, less publicity and recognitiont than their talent deserves. The bass and the beatboxer usually switch off from month to month with the arrangement. Whoever arranges does the production, editing, costumes and makeup. Lighting and effects are done by the bald tenor. Try Valhalla Calling next for fire and grit, or Golden Hour for a little weird romance. Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay and Geoff Castellucci!

The beatboxer's name is Layne Stein. This was the second appearance of what we call VioLayne. He plays the violin in Warriors. That video is followed, in its zombie apocalypse imagery, by Dream On, the Aerosmith cover. Both amazing productions. Hmmm, I seem to be using that word a lot when it comes to VoicePlay and Home Free. Well, I am amazed. As to the Mongolian throat singing, I think (not sure) that's how you get the jews harp sound from Chance all throughout Home Free's Man of Constant Sorrow.

VoicePlay often catches reactors off-balance. Everything they do is excellent. You might be interested in Dragonborn Comes, and the Halo theme - or Queen in 5 minutes. It's hard to type VP because they do such a wide range of performances, and they do them all so well - from Disney and Broadway covers to ballads, to classics like Tennessee Whiskey and Daddy Sang Bass....and recently, a lot of gamer songs. It's all fantastic, and there'll be a lot of us here for you.

I’m glad you found them again. I subscribed to see where you go next and because I liked your reaction. Their latest song is Valhalla Calling cuts killer amazing. Do “My Mother told Me” first. They are a pair.

VoicePlay and Home Free were both on the Sing-Off together. VoicePlay #TheatreKidsOfACapela. Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci the bass has his own channel and does LOW bass covers.

Subscribed for more a cappella. You will eventually get their names sorted. It can be confusing when you are exploring several groups at once.

Did you ever hear the bass on his solo videos? He (Geoff Castellucci) specializes in deep bass covers but his range is so wide he clones himself to sing his own backup on the videos. VoicePlay has done amazing work these past couple of years, and Geoff has, also. Some of them go very theatrical, others like this one, just beautiful arrangements and style.

Subscribed in hopes of more VoicePlay! Suggestions: Warriors, followed by Dream on (sequelish), Hoist The Colors, My Mother Told Me, followed by Valhalla Calling (another sequel), Halo, Dragonborn Comes, Just Sing (captions on is a must!), Queen in 5 Minutes, Running Up That Hill and if you like Disney, just throw a dart, they are all fantastic!

everything has probably been said about the group.... My recommendations would be My mother told me then Valhalla Calling as they are of the same ilk.. Warriors then Dream on for the same reason. But tbh, any that you choose would be great❤ 🇬🇧 subscribing in anticipation

A truly great song not only will stand the test of time but be instantly recognized played solely on one instrument ,such as piano let's say, no vocals or just vocals such as this group . Not too many songs these days ever capable of that kind of status. These guys are great , never have heard of them before...love the human voice as an instrument. Loved the little electric violin moment ( reminded me of Eddie Jobson ). Thanks for this one Dave!

Great reaction Dave. These guys are extremely talented in everything they do. They're latest video is Valhalla Calling. Geoff Castelucci, the bass, has his own channel were he sings solo non acapella. His latest video is Man of Constant Sorrow. No matter what you choose to watch you will not be disappointed. They're all awesome.

Liked and subscribed, hoping for more reactions to VoicePlay and their bass singer (Geoff Castelluci's) solo work. I'd say this song is in the running for their #1 best cover, but there are other strong contenders. Their latest release, Valhalla Calling, is superb, and some other general favorites are Hoist the Colours, Dream On, Carry On Wayward Son, Queen in Five Minutes, In The Hall of the Mountain King, Enemy (Imagine Dragons,) and Warriors. Geoff recently put out an amazing cover of The Sound of Silence, and his Ghost Riders in the Sky video is just incredible. But anything in either of their channels is well worth a listen!

They really blew us away with this one! You never know what to expect with these guys. Speaking of lows, if you think this was low, check out their latest, "Valhalla Calling." It's a viking epic that was originally created for the video game Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Geoff spends the whole song in the subbasement, lol. It's really good and has a few surprises (as VoicePlay is wont to do). It had us all pumped up and ready to go to war! ❤

Oogie Boogie came from the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Watch that, then come back and do a solo reaction to VoicePlay's Oogie Boogie Song. Some of my reactors have been doing this for a couple of years and feel like they know what they are doing now. They have gone back and redone the earliest ones since they think they didn't do them justice. Don't know if you have done "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" but if not it is from Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite from 1875, has several movements in the piece one of which is "In The Hall..." (my favorite from playing in the band in high school), it also has no lyrics which you might think important for an acapella group. It does have comedy and is a lot of fun.

I think I know the clown performer you mean, but I too am blanking on the name... Is it "Puddles"? Anyway, I'm always up for people's first reactions/experiences of something that brings me joy. And 99.9999% of the time VoicePlay is one of those things.

J.None's real name is Jesse Nunn, so that's how to pronounce it. None in English can be said either as non or nun. Geoff is just a brilliant bass guitar , as well as a bass singer and he does both in this one. People have been surprised to see a Metallica song done a capella but as Geoff has said "no one said we COULDN'T....." The beatvoxer, Layne, has a lovely gentle voice and does occasionally sing in videos , especially where no beatboxing is required. Maybe have a look at Hoist The Colours, it's among many peoples' favourites.

I get the impression you didn't know this is a cover of a Metallica song (1991), because it's 1) not mentioned in the title of your video, and 2) you did not mention it in your actual reaction like most other reactors do. I hope you didn't think this was an original Voiceplay song.
