Call me crazy (and your probably will), I think we see some improvements from the team this series. The pitching slump has gone on long enough but there's already been signs of life from Cole and Rodon recently. Cortes is great at home and could be a stopper here as long as this team manages to put up some early runs. Love Rice leading off as well. I know, I'm delusional, but it could be a good series!

Derek, you hit it on the head; been saying this team lacks leadership for years. Boone tries to be best friends with everyone and never holds anyone accountable. You can see the players just do whatever the hell they want, with no fear of being benched or DFA'd. The one time they do "bench" someone, they give a lame reason that its because of an injury and just "needing a few days". I am tired of hearing the narrative that this is todays game. Bruce Bochy, Alex Cora, Brian Snitker-Their players(almost all of them) respect them and play the game the right way. The Grisham thing yesterday just cannot be accepted, yet-we know it will be and it will just let the rest of the team know effort doesn't count for anything with Boone's Yankees.

As long Cashman stays GM I don't ever see him hiring a manager with a resume in the future because that would cause him stay out of the way. Cashman will rather have a novice manager so he can control the shots behind the scenes. I feel Cashman knew to stay out of the way with the two previous managers with Torre and Girardi because they had battle scars pertaining with prior teams that they had managed.

I love your channel and was wondering why you had never got to this realization. The answer is YES! I've been a fan for 50 years and Judge is no leader. I love the guy, but he's not the intensity we need like Jeter, O'Neil, Posada, Bernie, Mariano. Cole has it, but we need a core of players with it like we had then. The Mets finally have it as Lindor is growing into a leader and Alvarez has leader written all over him. They get 1 or 2 more guys on that team and they'll finally have it fixed. We are in trouble. I do like Stroman's intensity and maybe Volpe can grow into leader like Lindor, but we'll see. Yankees too passive. Not enough emotion and part of that is because of freaking Aaron Boone.

At least to me...... Organizational mantras are introduced and upheld by the CEO. At home, the pulse and tempo of the day to days are set by the parents. A school is run with the ideals of its principle. A restaurant, it's chef. And on and on and on and on. George Steinbrenner turned around the Yankees when he bought them from ( CBS was it ) and I'll never forget this speech he gave to his team. He was specifying the pinstripes and how being a Yankee was a privilege, but that it would come with alot of pressure etc etc. George wanted to win, he cared about winning - and conversely his teams did alot of winning. He was brash and tough and sometimes maybe out of line. But I have a feeling ( behind the scenes ) he was able to be tender too, and get the best out of his players. Or maybe he wasn't, but he cared about winning and the fans who came to the game. I don't think Hal really cares about winning. I think he inherited the most storied franchise in Baseball and runs the team reluctantly ( because owning this team was not his dream, it was his father's. ) He was voluntold. I say this ( I understand I'm not a baseball expert , but I played for 25yrs that has to count for something ) because there is no way your manager is Boone for 7 + seasons with this resume, and or your GM , and you REALLY care about winning. Cashman has 1 ring since 00' ( with basically unlimited resources.) Yanks have not won since 09'. That's going on 15 years. Not a success in my opinion. Yankee fans want ( and should have with what they pay ) competitive teams, all the time. If they are not, George would have found the managers, coaching staff and players to do so. I know Hal is spending 300 Million on payroll, I understand, but I also understand that we never see him. He's not available, and that tells me he doesn't really care. He doesn't want the heat. He doesn't want this ( to be owner ) and this lassez faire trickles down all the ranks at Yankee Stadium. Seeing guys not hustle , playing for the New York Yankees is not something I or any of us are used to. I understand winning a pennant or World Series is unbelievably difficult - but something has to give here. A change needs to come - or it's the same old. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Love your Show Derek. You show up win or lose. Nice to watch a real fan who is honest and critical and supportive of his team. I know you know it's hard to always win - I think you just want to know that your team cares about winning and getting prepared to respect the game and the fans. Jason

I'm going to revisit what I've previously posted about the Yankees. First and Foremost Brian Cashman is living on past glory. He won 4 World Series (WS) with the Yankees in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2009. Bob Watson was the GM of the Yankees in 1996 becoming the first African American GM to win a World Series Championship. Bob Watson died on May 14, 2020. Cashman has been living on these past glories like Jeff Fisher did after he appeared in Super Bowl XXXIV with the Tennessee Titans. Fisher coached a long time after that appearance without any real success in the Playoffs or reaching another Super Bowl. I'll say again, the Yankees haven't been the same since the 2004 collapse against the Boston Red Sox. As this year is the 20th anniversary of that debacle, it's time to reflect on the Yankees of the last 20 years. The good news is there isn't a "Curse of the Bloody Sock" because the Yankees exercised that potential curse by beating the Phillies in the 2009 World Series. However, since the 2004 season, this franchise isn't the storied/iconic franchise it was in the 20th century. I don't know if this is because of the expansion of the Playoffs or just because Cashman has made poor decisions regarding hiring managers, developing prospects, and his lack of success in building a championship roster. I also blame Hal Steinbrenner for keeping Cashman and Boone for the longest time. Let's hope History will repeat itself. In the early part of the Twentieth Century, as the Yankees were going through their transformation from the Baltimore Orioles to the New York Highlanders to the Yankees, Boston was winning the WS. The Sox won in 1912, 1915, 1916, and 1918. As a guy from Philadelphia and a History buff, the Sox was the rival to the Philadelphia A's in that time frame. Now the Sox have won in 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018. Sounds familiar. Let's hope the Yankees do what they did last century when they started reaching the World Series in the early 1920s and then winning the World Series from the 1920s to 2000 while the Sox were going through the "Curse of the Bambino" also exercised in the 2004 season. I'm going to get a lot of flack for this comment, but since 2004, even with winning the WS in 2009, the franchise seems like an average franchise to me. I can't say too much, because the Phillies have only two championships in 141 seasons. Yikes! Yet it seems the Yankees have suffered through the lack of success since 2004. This is the longest drought of getting to the WS (not winning it). The 1st drought was from 1965 to 1975, then the Yankees were swept in the 1976 WS by the Reds. Now the Reds are the 1st NL team to sweep the Yankees at home since Interleague Play started in 1997. The next drought was from 1982 to 1995, then the Yankees won the WS against the Atlanta Braves in 1996 in six games. If the Yankees don't win the WS this year, this current drought is from 2010 to 2024, a total of 15 seasons, as opposed to previous droughts of 11 seasons and 14 seasons. At the moment this drought is tied with the previous drought. There is something wrong with the franchise and their lack of success. Hopefully, this year or next the Yankees will come out of this funk and become successful again. There was a time when the Yankees came to town in pre-interleague play or the beginning of interleague play, and crowds would come to the ballpark to see the Mighty Yankees or the Bronx Bombers. That is still true in Boston and cross-town rivals the Mets, but is this still true for the 2024 Yankees as opposed to the 2000 Yankees when coming to town in other cities? I can't answer that, but the recent lack of success is taking away from their legacy. It's a shame Cashman and especially Joe Torre will always be associated with the 2004 collapse in the ALCS against the Red Sox. Torre never won the WS again after that season.

I always find it interesting how the team’s leadership and chemistry is good when guys are hitting/pitching well and winning games, but then they go through a losing streak where they’re not playing as well, and suddenly the team lacks leadership. When a team doesn’t hit, they look flat and disinterested, so fans latch onto the convenient narrative that the team lacks heart and leadership. There’s no way to look great when grounding out and striking out all the time. To be clear, I am not saying this team doesn’t have issues-they have major issues, I just don’t think a lack of leadership is near the top of the list. The guys just need to play better, plain and simple. Just my two cents.

Lack of heart and leadership is on Boone. If this doesnt turn around, he should be gone. They have Brad Ausmus on the bench... On Rodon, how about a Snell for Rodon swap? Snell wanted to be with the Yankees. Rodon played excellent in SF. The Yankees chip in 10M annually for the rest of his contract.

Plain and simple, this is a poorly managed ball club. Boone must GO!!!

I’m a Yankees fan but it has been hard the last 2 weeks! I think we need to light a fire under them. I thought Davis would give a spark but no. Get rid of Davis, Lemahieu. Replace them with Rengifo and Bellinger.

most of this team are content riding on the shoulders of Soto and Judge and Cole and a few others. they have no drive or desire to WIN a world championship and that is the managers fault. Boone needs to kick ass but he doesn't have it in him.
