Yo siendo de Costa Rica 🇨🇷 nunca le he discutido a Chavela lo de la nacionalidad. Ella amó México más que mucha gente nacida ahí. ¿Cómo se puede ser tan ignorante de decirle a alguien lo que tiene que amar o a que llama “hogar”? Los costarricenses deberíamos de agradecer que tan siquiera se mencione el nombre de nuestro país cuándo se menciona a Chavela. Y agradecerle a los hermanos mexicanos que supieron aprovechar y popularizar su talento.

What a water-down translation. What she actually said is: "We Mexicans are born wherever THE FUCK we want!!!!" Now, we can debate, and even disagree as to the translation of the very Mexican word "chingada", but what no one who pretends to translate should ever do is water-down or refine the very strong in an almost crass quality meaning of this word.

Her voice was equally WONDERFUL during her youth and when she grew old. However, in my opinion, I find absolutely outstanding her voice during the last part of her life💗💐💐💐💐💐💐

No one will ever come close to performing this song better than the Great Chavela Vargas did. I believe this performance was from her “Live at Carnegie Hall” album. If you don’t own it and can still get it, do so! It is absolutely amazing!

Her rendition of this song has always made me cry.

Hello Andy, and thanks for featuring a Costa Rican born singer in your channel. Although she spent most of her life in beautiful México, you can clearly hear our Costa Rican accent when she says "Tapáme" (stressed on the second syllable) because of the use of the "Vos" second grammar person we use here for familiar speaking instead of the familiar form used in México, which is "Tú", and which would have sounded "Tápame" with the accent on the first syllable. Hola Andy, es una hermosa canción que se tiene que cantar con mucho sentimiento, ahora existen varias versiones pero chavela hacia suya esa canción, en ese vídeo ya ella estaba con una voz mas cansada peo aun así es genial escucharla.

Podrán haber miles de versiones de esta hermosa canción , cantada por muchas hermosas voces. Pero jamás como esta , ella le puso un sentimiento que jamás me lo ha trasmitido otra. Mis respeto y admiración a Chavela.

A los mexicanos esa canción nos llena de una emoción tan fuerte y profunda, casi no podría explicarlo, pero nos recuerda todo lo que hemos amado y lo que hemos perdido, incluso saber que no somos eternos. Su interpretación es la mejor y también es muy bonita la de Eugenia León cantándosela en vivo en un homenaje poco antes de morir Chavela, con otros versos también muy bellos
