Faith transitioning from a lite lyric to a full lyric soprano is the absolute best. Her voice has weight and a depth to it that she didn't have in the beginning of her career.

I agree 100% … one thing that I really appreciate about Faith is her versatility she can slay and croon background vocals to make an alright song phenomenal(see Don’t Go by Mary J) and then give all the runs, rasp and strength to tell the story of her own songs.. she is in fact a singers singer and those who know music appreciate and love her 💕

Facts! Lol she's always sounded reminiscent of Karen Clark Sheard. As she's aged she kept that same agility and soprano power but her voice gained an added husk. I call it that "Aretha husk".. she puts me in the mind of her these days.

People be sleeping on Faith. Always loved her voice. Knew she was good when Nippy tapped her and Kelly Price to sing with her. Phenomenal singers.

Yep Whitney chose the best she also wanted Anita Baker to be on a soundtrack but she was pregnant at the time.... Whitney had an hear for singers.

Leslie really is a showman. The joy and admiration he has for her as she turned up the vocals is incredible. That’s how it’s really done.

Hollar at 'cha girl. I am SO GLAD that you analyzed... this is one of my favorite performances. And YES...I HAVE ALL OF LESLIE ODOM JR's Christmas albums. I think he held back during this performance because he knows that we do not hear enough of Faith. He wanted to allow this Queen to shine. Leslie has his Tony Awards and his Oscar nominations. His vocal collabs with his wife, Nicolette, are also FABULOUS! Leslie held back to let the Queen Faith shine, in my humble opinion. Regarding Leslie's voice? Classically trained singers are taught to eliminate the differentiation between the head and chest voice. THAT is why Odom is a Tony Award winner. Trust. It is a skill that not everyone can master, but he does it beautifully. I think he might be a second Tenor? But his lower range almost sounds like he is a Bass-Baritone, while his upper range sounds like he is a male Soprano. Not an easy task, my friend. The vocal instrument is a gift, and everyone's vocal instrument is different. Each person's charge is to become fully aware of his or her own instrument and to master it. Leslie has pretty much mastered his instrument. Faith ain't too shabby, either, 😆in my humble opinion --- classical training aside. 💛💙💛

Truly enjoyed these two voice analysis that brought a 😁 to my day. When Faith Hit that last Run on Mary Did You Know! Well Jaron she felt that all the way down to her Toes as she lent back turnt head to side with eyes closed! Wow

When people say that Mary J Blige is a better singer because she's got great songs, I immediately know that Iam not talking to a musician. Please say that loud for the slow people in the back! I never understood how people could possibly think that there is even a vocal comparison to Miss Faith Evans and Mary. It is a good day if Mary gets three notes on key in a full song. First of all Leslie and Faith sound so beautiful together, and I hope they do another song or album together. When Faith started to sing, everyone in the audience including myself were not only impressed but moved. I always said that Faith sounds like a young Aretha, much more so than Jennifer Hudson. When you see a great singer in awe of another, then you know this woman can SANG!!!!, and Leslie was in awe
