Hello Purple Butterfly and welcome to Voice of Baceprot from Indonesia! They are crushing stereotypes and neutralizing toxic perceptions, defining themselves by their words and actions! They have kicked open the door to the rock/metal world stage for Muslim women, overcoming many religious/cultural obstacles along the way. In these ever more daunting times of separation between East and West, they use music to show there is a middle ground, where we can meet, get to know one another, and see just how much we have in common.

I give the band much respect for putting themselves out there and rocking it so hard!!

They are wonderful, there are several live shows on YT. Please subscribe to the band's social media. It seems that the band now manages its own career independently. So far I haven't seen any tours or festival appearances in the West in 2024, so far they are performing in Indonesia. I fear they will be canceled in the West because of political positions. Last year it seems like they suffered a lot from haters. Power to V.O.B!

VoB vocalist and guitarist, Firda "Marsya" Kurnia, hopes that the latest song from her band can educate all parties that women are not public property. Marsya said that their fear of violence against women would get worse in the future, which was the reason for making this song. "In our opinion, what should be encouraged is education as well. Because you can't keep ordering women to dress like this, like that," said Marsya. According to Marsya, education is one of the first ways to prevent violence that often happens to women. Marsya added, the song "[Not] Public Property" is also a vessel for the voices of women who are survivors of sexual violence. Marsya admits that the idea to work on the song was born out of concern and people's response to survivors of sexual violence. The idea actually emerged from two years ago. Composition of music was done from home due to the social restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic. "So we feel that in the midst of the victims' trauma and fear, they still often fuss about how they were dressed when the violence occurred, questioning their bodies when the violence occurred. They say the victim contributed to the incident of violence," said Marsya. The three members of VoB feel that their own interests need to be emphasized in songwriting because of their role as Indonesian women. Just found your channel and subscribed. I love the t-shirt, which should be a Winery Dogs shirt if it isn't. Voice of Baceprot is one of the braver bands in the world (behind Pussy Riot in Russia and, possibly, Slaves to Sirens in Lebanon) because they have gotten some harassment from some of the more religious elements of their country. To me, this song should be played to every high school male in the US. They are very talented and I look forward to seeing them live sometime. If you are surprised by the number of female bands, not to mention female fronted bands, out there, you have not really scratched the surface. Here are my suggestions - Crypta if you don't mind the harsh vocals of Death Metal. Crypta is all female and a brutal metal band that released my favorite Death Metal album of 2023 called Shades of Sorrow. I will be seeing them live in a couple of weeks. I will be seeing them in Atlanta in their US debut at ProgPower in early September. They are, in my opinion, the best Power Metal band to have formed in the last 10 years. Their most recent album, Judgement Day, was in my top 10 metal albums of 2023 and I am not really a Power Metal guy. The band is primarily metal and there is a mix of clean and harsh vocals by their amazing lead singer, Mayu. I saw then live in early 2023 and they were fantastic. IMHO, the lead singer, Tatiana, is the best current metal vocalist, male or female, in the world. I also saw the band live last year and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen (and I have been to plenty of concerts and festivals since the mid-1970s). She also switches between clean vocals and harsh vocals, and is the best ever at doing it.
