Vogtle Timeline - 3rd Quarter 2017
Construction continues uninterrupted at the Vogtle site as all the Owners work together to maintain the project’s momentum following Westinghouse’s bankruptcy. Progress is steady and evident, illustrated by multiple recent achievements such as the placement of the final steam generator for Unit 3 on October 10 and, at the end of September, more than 1,800 cubic yards of concrete was placed in the Unit 3 containment vessel - a 71-hour pour which illustrates significant efficiency improvements. They should finish Vogtle units 3&4, V.C. Summer units 2&3, and the Bellefonte units.

Absolutely, V.C. Summer construction was been halted months ago and has made an economic impact to those folks who were moving there for work, its community and their lives that where already planned. This happenned due to Westinghouse bankrupt. In the case of Vogtle 3&4, they found another contractor, so the construction goes on and everything is fine; in V.C. Summer, Scana hasn't found a new contractor, so my idea is that the same Vogtle's contractor could finish units 2&3 once they're done with Vogtle or meanwhile. But this means a lot of money to be invested, a lot of workers to be paid and compromising with the project; the key is to find a solution rather than doing nothing. In Bellefonte the situation is different: there are 2 units that were already constructed years ago and have to be refurbished like Watts Bar 2, but they never were finished and the plant has never produced electricity, it is not a new construction with new designed reactors like Vogtle and V.C. Summer's. So any good contractor has to invest money for finishing them, knowing that TVA sold them, but they have to find one! Otherwise everything will be the same. So for all of this there has to be good hope, realism and the desire to work for achieving good results.

We need as much nuclear as we can get. I want to see all coal plants replaced.

You are undereducated and should educate yourself or leave power generation to the big brains. nuke is the only way to kick global warming without destroying our economy. China is outperforming us with reactor designs we gave them. Designs the US wouldn't even use because it wouldn't make plutonium. Look into the Molten Salt Thorium reactor.
