I loved how you noticed this and mentioned it. It's so true.
If Michelangelo is correct, that "the true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection," this group of young singers casts a very long shadow.

I love this group. I am 76 and enjoy their music. Just bought 4 CDs.
I got to hear them sing in concert in Nashville last month. One fo the best concerts I've ever been to. They sang this as their encore piece. They are probably the best group of their kind.
Absolutely moving and touching. I lost my beloved husband and soulmate very suddenly 11 weeks ago. This piece has released tears I couldn't cry before. Thank you ♥️

I miss Emily so much...funny thing is I have only been listening to Voces8 for a little over 2 weeks and she left nearly 3 years ago
Why do i need to cry each time listen to this wonderful music... Sigh. Love love love lady emily so much.
Jonathan Foote A choir of Angels; Soothes a cluttered mind, stirs a once still soul, humbles a brazen brow, bringing the hardest of hearts crashing down to their knees. A stone has cast aside its impregnable exterior and flourished into full bloom, now naked and vulnerable. Breathtaking, sentient and introspective - a chord that surely resonates within every living being.
Pure heaven. Perfect pitch, balance and phrasing. I'm a new fan of these guys. They're a true bliss.
As a traditional choir singer I never was into these pop-like glissando's, but with this perfection and performance - there is nothing better! I could listen to this for the rest of my life
@jb9652

Top secret tip (which I'm thinking you may already have discovered): Glissandi are *necessary* for perfect intonation. I've known church choirs that are against them because they see them as "pop" and want to distance themselves from pop, but then inevitably fail to sing in tune. (Similarly, I've known choirs refuse to use a metronome or feel the beat, and then inevitably sing out of time). The glissandi can be small in both pitch change and duration, but they must be there. All this applies to the violin too. All just my opinion, of course! 🙂
Beautiful music from the poetry of Emily Dickinson. I discovered her poetry and enjoy it to this day.
If you promise me that these voices will sound in the eternity of heaven, I could not wait.
I had to listen to this over and over, and share it too. Faintingly gorgeous.
This was the first piece I ever heard sung by the group. 3 albums and hours of listening later, I am enthralled by your performance. I wish I was younger so I could be a fan longer. I have been an amateur chorister for most of my life but your collective abilities produce a vocal beauty I have not heard 'til now. Thank you for your excellent work, please continue.

That's a beautiful version, and I assume, Kate Rusby who wrote this lovely song adores it too. Congratulations to whoever arranged this as well.
The harmony in this piece is so incredibly beautiful. Moving and poetic!

They are Divine Healing Voices. Even Bach would have cried...Gently.

Aww!! What a tender moment, and a beautiful way for Emily to leave and "go gently" on her way! Best of luck to your next chapter, Emily! Much warmth, light, and love to you!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift along with those who became your best friends, over the years, and for us to listen to, and get touched by!
Kate was amazing! She will be missed, but her plans will be making her happy and that's what matters 😊💕
Hearing Voces8 perform this lovely arrangement this past Sunday in Grass Valley, California was a sublime experience! Their new soprano, Eleonore Cockerham (they introduced her as, 'El') was excellent!
I just found my super group. Those voices are like the angels.
All their work is amazing but I can't stop listening to this. Each hearing is like the first time. Go Gently.
I was blessed to hear this this past weekend in Harrisonburg, VA! What a treat!
One of my favourite songs by Kate Rusby. Absolutely gorgeous. x
With heavy heart I bear listening to this song, always help kerp me calm and also promising that tomorrow is gonna be better
After listening to this, I went out into the starlit night to savour the full, beautiful effect.
I wish it was longer! This work is so marvelous so many emotions involved!
Thank you Jim Clements for such a beautiful arrangement. And to Voces8 for a beautiful performance to inspire our choir to sing this at TMEA.
OMG this sends shivers up and down! How beautiful and touching to the very core. Thank you for this amazing rendition.
EVERY time I hear this...I get chocked up and come as close as I EVER come to actually CRYING!! What's with THAT!!!! SO MOVING!!
Emily, this is stunning. Congratulations for an amazing 8 years of service to the enrichment of our lives
Voces8 sang this in Hamburg tonight. Kate Rusby, thank you for this musical gem!
The soloist's voice is truly unique, very beautiful.
The Turtle Creek Chorale, of Dallas, TX will be singing this at our holiday concert, Shimmer and Shine from December 14th through the 16th, 2018. I only hope we, approximately 240 men, can do this song the justice VOCES8 so magnificently did.

Underneath the stars I'll meet you Underneath the stars I'll greet you There beneath the stars I'll leave you Before you go of your own free will Go gently Underneath the stars you met me Underneath the stars you left me I wonder if the stars regret me At least you'll go of your own free will Go gently Here beneath the stars I'm landing And here beneath the stars not ending Why on earth am I pretending? I'm here again, the stars befriending They come and go of their own free will Go gently Go gently Underneath the stars you met me And Underneath the stars you left me I wonder if the stars regret me I'm sure they'd like me if they only met me They come and go of their own free will Go gently Go gently Go gently

I was part of a workshop with these wonderful people before their concert tonight. They then invited us to sit in on their sound check. They truly are amazing and an inspiration to anyone out there who desires to sing choral music. This song in particular really got the tears flowing. As beautiful as this video sounds it cannot do their live performance justice.

Heard Voces8 live in London 4 April, including this gorgeous arrangement--you touched all 900 hearts in Cadogan Hall, leaving us all breathing AWE. Simply said, you eight make life better for the rest of us--and we've been singing a capella for 65 years.
we sang this at my graduation and the seniors got that solo at the end. I don't think there was a dry eye. Thank you for this wonderful song.
Lots of vocal hardwork! It floods the soul with peace and meekness. Loved! ❤️
So much to enjoy in this beautiful composition and performance, the complex interweaving of voices, the gentle melody, the words so wistful and poignant. Such tenderness. Who could fail to be emotionally affected? Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us.

Wow, that is good to listen to, thank you for the upload
Can't wait to see these in concert again one day! Bye Emily!
Absolutely fabulous. The blend is so precise with the perfect amount of slide.
Broke my heart with it's beauty.
Absolutely top drawer. If only human beings would apply more of their energies to this sort of thing instead of most of what we read in the news every day, I would feel less inclined to get off the treadmill.
Beautiful, simply beautiful. The words mean so much to me on a personal level I cannot express here. I hope Emily has progressed to greater things. But, honestly, this performance would be a lifetimes achievement for most people. Thank you Emily and Voices8 xx
