This song has such meaning, but unlike some (a lot) of Vocaloid songs the meaning is right there and not under a million lyrics to get the message across. The story is quite simple. Gumi has tried to fit in with other Vocaloids to the point she starts to become them. In being them too much, she forgets herself.

I remember hearing this in 2020 and I loved it but didn't know the name, back to the topic, literally same.

During the chorus where she's holding a mirror, you can see 4 silhouettes. The blue one is Miku, the red one is Meiko, the yellow one is Rin and the pink one is Luka. Near the end of the the song, the silhouettes are all green, like they've been replaced by Gumi.

Something I noticed in this song: Its a never ending loop. Put this song on loop to understand. Gumi meets some people, becomes a friend, and changes her actions to match and fit it. She realizes in the last chorus what she has done and abandons them to find herself again, but ends up doing it again with the next friend group. She's in an endless vicious cycle of trying to live up to people's expectations, mainly out of insecurity or peer pressure. She's trying to find someone like her, but can't, so she blends in instead, only to lose herself. Edit: 1, wow 2,000 likes thanks! 2, I did not realize how many people can relate to this. ehhh..i think it's just a sign that producers don't want to step out of clichés like "i'm losing my true self and identity because i wanted fleeting happiness," etc. i can let ten faced and fake psychotropic off the hook but there's like a billion vocaloid songs by western producers that piggyback off the whole "personality disorder" trope. (not to mention that this music video bears a really similar concept to deco*27's doll) please dont treat similarities between unrelated vocaloid songs like a good things, it shows that you are disconnecting the vocaloid from the producer. vocaloids are instruments. the songs are made by individual people. i would not praise someone as "amazing" for writing very straightforward lyrics that lack consistent meter and tell a romanticized, clichéd stories about having mental illness. (that being said, i'm not trying to hate on circus-p or harm his feelings, so please don't take it that way. i've listened to his music for many years. i just offer an constructive opinion)

My personal interpretation of the song (And viewing other's opinions about it) is that the song is about the dangers of not expressing yourself just to please others. Having a different personality for each other person so they won't dislike you may seem like a good idea, but please please never do that. You can see that when the mirror was empty and Gumi's nails were green (Green resembling herself), she was missing her face. Pair that with the lyrics "I can't remember who I am", because so many fake personalities will eventually end up in you losing yourself. Always be yourself :] Other's may not like you for it, but it's impossible to please everyone. People will like you, people will hate you, and people won't care about you. It’s typically demonized because of false information claiming the disorder is highly correlated with violent acts and is common in serial killers (most serial killers do not have a cluster b disorder in reality.) I feel like this song is about a girl who makes friends with people, but slowly adapt to their personality and mannerisms, basically becoming almost exactly like them. She can't remember her true personality because she has done this countless times, and always talks different depending on which person she is talking to, or type of person she is talking to. She literally can't remember who she really is, because she now has so many different personalities and acts that are now part of her, letting go of who she once was, and accepted what she has now become. Her "default" personality fades the more she talks to someone. Her old mannerisms for herself are now a blur to her. She feels she has to act like other people to seem more interesting to them. Whenever i really like a character, i just seem to develop their personality and traits, I'm literally forgetting who i am at this point-

This music has been with me since I was little. I have always been wondering why and the flashbacks were so quiet and creepy. I was walking in a mall and had my iPad listening to this song. I was walking around and went in a playpen, still having this song stuck in my head and listening to it. I went everywhere with this song playing. And then got lost. And it felt like my parents were gone and it felt like this mall got abandoned, I still walked around with thjs song playing and then went in a restaurant. And then my parents grabbed me and talked with me like nothing is wrong or happened. It felt like they were my fake parents and took me out of the mall, that’s where the song ends. I’m not sure if this is a dream but it just feels too real.

honestly, this song is probably the best way i could describe borderline personality disorder to other people. it’s so easy for people like me to adopt personality traits from anyone and everyone they get close to in an unhealthy way. we lose ourselves in others, and self-identity is one of the things we really struggle with, because after adopting other people’s personalities for so long, who are we really underneath all of that?

This is actually a darker song than what most of the comments are even discussing. I know there are people who want "friends" so much they start giving up who they are to be who the person wants them to be. But then all the different personalities are hard to balance; too many masks and you can't tell who you are anymore. It's a tragic song, really. Edit (1/21/2019): I haven't looked back on this message in MONTHS and come back to a heck of a lot of likes and finding out there are so many who can relate to this statement. I am experiencing conflicting emotions and do hope there is some way to reconcile any of you have difficulty being yourself. Again, I don't want to say that changing yourself is bad: it's not recognizing who you are yourself that is the tragedy, which this song was reflecting. Change is neither good or bad; sorry if I seemed like I was saying that all change was bad. It's not. But please, if you're not comfortable with who you are, try to find out why, change something, and be proud of your decision. I really don't think it's healthy if you're not happy with who you are because you should still have the right to your own interests and personality, or accommodate a few changes than just throw away who you are as a person entirely. Friends are a way you can be a better person, not to be made a copy of just to feel like you are whole. You'll find someone who will relate to you and maybe open you up to new possibilities. It's not a perfect answer, but better than lying to yourself. P.S. If you say deep comments are my thing, then thank you for the compliment. It's just a habit and something that needed to be said.

after drifting into that its easy to just break and loose every personality and hit the point of not knowing if your even considering yourself as 'alive' or just emulating the motions.

This song, along with “Echo” and “Again” are clearly all about BPD.. Which is Borderline Personality Disorder and I’m surprised at the overwhelming amount of comments who thinks they’re about Bipolar Disorder... No... Bipolar is switching between the poles of depression and mania/ hypomania and you stay a single mood for a long period of time before switching without warning... BPD is constant mood swings daily, mirroring others, having a weak sense of identity, huge fear of abandonment, BLACK AND WHITE thinking opposed to “normal” thinking which will appear as a rainbow of thoughts if you look it up, splitting, and etc. This song, Echo, and Again are all dead ringers for BPD.

All three of these songs go well with ASD (Autism spectrum disorder) also, I have struggled for years with my emotions and a lot of other things in my life. Un-diagnosed/ wrongly diagnosed BPD until I was 23. Our minds seem to go through the same roads and paths to get to the objective thought process sometimes.

The guy who made these these subtitles is a beast.

To all the people who are just seeing this song, this actually represents BPD meaning Borderline Personality Disorder, which is one of the least common but hardest to deal with in daily life, I may not have it but I can feel how these people go through as they struggle to keep one emotion without losing control. This song represents how she can't seem to be completely herself and forgets how to be herself again. BPD also has other symptoms, such as black and white thinking, paranoia, mood swings, and of course, this song represents copying other people, which is also a symptom. There are other songs that represent BPD such as ECHO and Again (Crusher-P). This part of the comment is to give gratitude to all people with BPD for not giving up and trying your best to love a very normal life, I give thanks for your trying to fit in with normal people, I'm grateful for you all who are struggling (not in a bad way) and getting bullied, but never giving up and trying not to go haywire, I'm grateful for the hard work you all are trying. I hope you guys don't give up on living this life and hope you guys keep going!! ❤ Edit: There is another song I forgot to mention (also by Crusher-P), Propaganda may also show clues of BPD because paranoia is also a sign of BPD along with other symptoms
