You are right. ....Knowing both of them as great singers with voices covering several octaves, one would expect them to do some voice acrobatics, but they were instructed to sing it that way. Great singers.

They were trying to portray and narrate a very exciting and magical moment. They enunciated the words clearly by positioning their mouth properly and smiling would give a happy, excited and amazed tone in order to let the audience understand them clearly and for the audience to feel their emotion. You should imagine how Princess Jasmine and Aladdin was feeling, riding the magic carpet while listening to the song. They did not belt, even if they can, because doing so would change how Aladdin and Jasmine should be acting in the animated movie.

Disney picked them both to do the ads for Aladdin in the Philippines. Darren said they asked him to sing it that low, so he had to practice a lot. You must watch Morissette meets Will Smith and the producer of this song Alan Manken. The officialDisney was really awesome and they played it before the movie started. The original singer back in the 90's was Lea Salonga a filipina who sung Refletion in the movie Mulan and of course she was the original Kim in Miss Saigon. Check her out to, again her name is Lea Salonga.

It's true that most Filipinos start singing with the use of the karaoke, but before going mainstream Morisette did musicals and Darren had his start in Canada. So I guess both artists were trained even before making it big... 🤔😊

This was the FIRST video I ever heard or seen Mori sing and for someone that was an Aladdin and Lea Salonga (the original singing Jasmine voice) fan who has listened to this song a million times. She killed it. She was so Disney Princess status. As everyone here already stated, they were chosen by Disney Philippines to sing this. She even met Al Menken and Will Smith. They kept it true to the original.

It's not a cover version. Actually, Disney officially tapped them to perform the song the way it was sang by Aladdin and Princess Jasmine in the movie. They can't change the song or do some adlib. It has to sound like a musical. Incidentally, you and Anna should try watching Darren Espanto with Lani and Jona as they perform songs from the Phantom of the Opera to better acquaint you with Darren. It's theatrical and I'm sure Anna will love it.

Yeah you're right yazik most of our singers doesn't have vocal training when they begin to sing. They just listen to singers and imitate them by practicing in karaoke. But most of them belonged to the poor family who can't afford to buy Karaoke machine. What they do is they look at the house that has a Birthday celebrant who has a karaoke and will come to the party even if not invited but that's not a problem in our community because Pilipinos are known yo be hospitable. Yeah they're doing everytime there's an ocassion and has karaoke just to practice the song and conditions their voice.

But this opportunity did not come without any challenges for the two singers. On Thursday, the two Kapamilya singers admitted that they actually struggled on how to make the song their own. “This is a classic. Everyone knows this song. I guess the challenge was to make your own rendition and at the same time, not to lose the magic of the song,” Amon said. On how they prepared for it, Amon said: "We both watched the movie just to really internalize na parang kami mismo si Jasmine and Aladdin." They likewise shared they have yet to reach out to Lea Salonga, who first popularized the beloved tune in 1992.
