This song was a joke. He wrote it in what like 5 minutes. He wanted to see how a song would sound if a south indian guy with very minimum knowledge of English would sing a breakup song with only English lyrics in a South indian style. Why this kolaveri di basically means why this misery. It is a heartbreak song, and if you pay attention closely you understand the story he is telling. Also, the u after nearly every word in the caption just enunciates his pronunciation - it is a funny way of adding the tamilian accent to the song which makes me love it even more. He wrote it in only 10 minutes or so and now its something that was a part of every indian millenials childhood.

He also should've explain that 'mama' means uncle not mother the word for which is 'amma' (this applies to most south indian languages afaik). The word 'mama' is commonly used as a slightly more respectful word for 'bro' (another alternative is 'anna' which translates to elder brother). So in this case he was refering to the guy on keys when he says 'mama'.

Kolaveri means.... man how can I explain u this in a word.... In tamil Language Kola is - murder Veri is - Rage So as his GF dumped him.... basically he was full on alcohol and asks the girl "why ur showing this Rage on me" in a silly way.

Kolavery means murder in Tamil.. in short this is a boys pain song after break up.. the song was returned n given music with 10-15 minutes...

This wasn't an experimental song, it was a situation-based song but the recording version song was released before the movie and it became a hit. the later song was used in the movie based on the situation and lyrics matched the movie situation.
