I like to hear opinions from people who know what they're talking about. This guy knows what he's talking about. This may be the first analysis video that actually taught me something.

She is 10 years old here & she was looking at the lyrics because she had just finished rewriting the lyrics on the car ride to the the recording session, so this was her first attempt at the "new" song. There are many other songs where you can see her reading the lyrics off her phone and somehow she manages to emote the feelings from the lyrics on the fly. I find that amazing. She also rewrote the lyrics for Amy Winehouse's Rehab. So far you have reacted to her at 6 (I Who Have Nothing), 8 (I Put A Spell On You) and now 10 (Back To Black). She will be 14 in January 2020 and her voice has matured considerably. Try Adele's A Million Years Ago or Lana Del Rey's Born To Die when she was 12 and both are much better than the originals. Her version of Wicked Games at 13 is haunting, beautiful and is the polar opposite of Diana Ankudinova's power version. Diana's version leaves you saying "Wow, what power, range & tone" while Angelina slows it down, reduces the volume and makes you feel the emotion of every word. At the end I am wiping tears & saying "I have no words." If you want to see her totally change a song from the original, try her 12 year old version of California Dreamin by the Mommas & the Pappas. In my opinion Angelina was a great child singer from 6-9. By 9 or 10 she was a great singer of any age and from 11-13, she is one of the best singers in the world. I can't imagine where she goes from here but I know I will always be watching &. listening.

Frank made a point of her age here, and you address it in your excellent comment, so I have to mention that she is actually 8, not 6, in 'I Who Have Nothing.' Don't want to try the everyone's patience, I also made this comment on Frank's reaction to that song. As noted by many, her teeth are more grown in than when she was 7 at NGT audition. More like her 8 yr old self in Finals. The date placed on the YT vid is an error.

Keith Serafy a true fan. The more she has control of a song the better it is. In Wicked Game she’s playing the piano and as say it’s different, but it’s not a song I like, but her version changed it for me.

Angelina has a very charismatic personality. Not only about her performing barefoot and the story behind it... Her being an old soul in both her music and on the way she carries herself also adds up to the dynamics of her being both a person and an artist.

@@theterranian8039 - I had watched Alex & Sierra on AGT (with the mean/nasty Simon) . . . and KZread put in the right-hand column Angelina's Gloomy Sunday on my next re-fresh . So I watched Gloomy Sunday (Angelina) and thought it was pretty good but did not fully understand the Judges enthusiasm at the finish . . . . . The next day while surfing KZread ' I Who Have Nothing ' (Angelina) showed up in the right-hand column and out of curiosity I clicked on it : Blown out of the water and into Next Week ! ! ! Have been a 'fan' ever since with growing appreciation for this little genius .

Regarding those lyrics, Angelina re-wrote them herself the day before this recording, and putting the finishing touches to it in the car on her way to the studio. The original lyrics aren't exactly appropriate for a 10 year old

It's amazing how on the way to the recording she changed the words to fit her age & her POV. her mom wasn't going to let her sing it unless she changed it. Good mom. This was her very first time she sang this song and did it as you just saw in one take.. as she does most songs.

she is the most relax and calm singer I've ever seen. really great soul she has. no strain. it's very pleasant to listen to her. so brief. so confident. she is really integrated and union with the music and song.

I can't imagine learning some new lyrics in a second language and not having some notes to look at. In this case, as others have mentioned, it's because she rewrote some of the lyrics just that day but I have seen her use notes in other videos as well. I agree that she can do this and still sing with passion and interact with her audience. I am just amazed that a young child can sing in another language so well. That is one of the things that amazes me with Diana as well! Thank you for another great reaction and your professional insight.

Another nice, technical reaction. I fully agree with you regarding the character she displays in her vocals and attitude when she is on stage. I call it 'presence' as opposed to 'character', but I think we're talking about the same thing. As soon as the first note slips out it just reaches out and grabs your attention in a way I have seldom seen another singer do. It's mesmerizing, and soothing. When I listen to her I can feel the stresses of the day just melting away. My shoulders drop, my neck relaxes and I'm calmed. It's like taking a hit of some top-level drug, except this one has no side effects except for a very strong addiction to hearing more, and that should bother no one. Thank you for another fine post.

Thank you again for nice and wice reaction, I really hope to hear much more from you on Angelina. You talked a bit about her voice having some nasal (?) sound to it. I think that is a tone she uses particulary in her Amy covers. As many reactors has pointed out; Angeline are adjusting or even changing her voice, to fit the song she is perfoming. She realy sound quite different from one song to an other. She might have a touch of nasal tone in many songs, but I think she use it a bit more when she does Amy covers. Angelina aprichiate and honor the originals of her covers, and does so by change them as little as posible, and just by using her voice in the best possible way she can. I think you should not wait very long before you take a look at her latest original song SHIELD. She made it in 2018, but even performd it in consert this summer, and the public wanted her to do it again at the end of the consert. Here full consert are uplouded on YT, and there are also a audio studio version.

Hello Frank. Angelina says that when she sings, she immerse herself in another world! To date, no vocal coach, no vocal trainer has noticed that she not only close her eyes, but really dive into another world. Pay attention to her eyes. Sometimes they are twisted from one moment to the next, in other spheres. There are people who are better in her own world than when they stay in our world and try theire art. Angelina can do the best parting! And when the work is done ... whoops, she is herself again in the reality of everyone. Look for it ..... best example is the song "Lana Del Rey Young and Beautiful Second 3" there she dive's up And excuse my Bad English, but i´m a 53 "young" ;) German without English skill. Learn it myself.

@@THEVOCALLEXICON - "Song for A" Is somthing spesial. The music for this are composed by Russian modern classic composer Nico Cartosio. He made an album of classical music called "Melting" (Released in april this year). He wanted to have a song to end this album of classical music, so he got hold of an old scottisch song, used the lyrics and composed new music to it. And he did it whith Angelina on his mind. He got the music recorded in The Abbey Road studioes in London. Angelina was in LA at the time, and she put her voice to it in a studio there. This is the only song on the album. I think she does it so astonishly well. It`s quite different from anyting else she has done so far, but I must sey I love it. You really should listen to it, and I would love to hear your comments om that one. Hoping.

For this song, it is my understanding... She was given 24 hours to rewrite the lyrics to the song (because they are not age appropriate for her here). She's actually reading her notes because she didn't have time to memorize it.

Frank, she needs to project more personality , her stage persona is kind of dry. She could be quite phenomenal if her voice and her persona worked together to grab the audience. I think she needs to put more feeling into her songs. She has an interesting voice but I think it lacks projection. She has the vocal platform to build and add technique to. It is surprising to see such a young girl with the talent she already has and maybe one day she will conquer many hearts. Thank you for your wonderful analysis, I think you would be a great teacher and coach for this young lady after all you, as a professional, know what it's all about on top of the fact that you would be a great source of encouragement to her. I think whoever is coaching her presently isn't quite getting it or has some limitations that may be holding her back. Frank, take good care, friend and may God bless you and those you love. I respectfully disagree. One of the things I like most about Angelina... she's not trying to "sell" you the song with a bunch of acted out facial expressions and choreographed movements. She just delivers the vocal with all the emotion projected through her voice. You don't need to see her to appreciate what you are hearing... in my opinion, that's what a true singer should be. Music is meant to be listened to. For me personally, everything outside of the audio is just fluff. If the vocal doesn't stand up without the visual aids, it's a sub-par vocal.... and Angelina's vocals ALL stand on their own just fine. If you come across a sub-par vocal from Angelina (after the age of 6) I woul.... nevermind.... I already know you won't find one ;) Edit: But just to be clear: all this is just my opinion, when it comes to music (or any art), I understand that everyone has different opinions... and that's why we have so much variety in the world :)

I agree with Rusty Shackleford's comment. Angelina does not do "theatrics". She does with her voice what other singers fail to do unless their performance is choreographed. Angelina's singing is "emotion personified. Listeners are drawn into her inner world.

Of course everyone has the right to their opinion, but not facts. Rusty explains it. Flopping like a fish out of water is not style. The voice is what counts, and while Hendrix/Vaughn performs were great..it was the music that made them a legend.
