People are commenting a lot that Taylor has already done this vocal style before, and she might have. I could definitely be wrong. But, to me,. It's not the "folksy" elements that stand out to me, it's her overall vocal tone. The darker, more open sounds and less of the "held," lighter sounds that I remember hearing even in Folklore. It's not dramatically different, but I do think there are some differences. Let me know what you think though! Maybe there is a track that you think she has done before that sounds more like Carolina and I'd love to hear it or re-listen to it in case I've forgotten!

I agree with you. I see some similarities with the folklore era, but in this song I feel more darkness in her voice. Maybe heavier? The way she says “leave” and “I’ll make it count” is so unique and beautiful to me

mad woman, cowboy like me, safe and sound , seven , happiness these are some with similar dark tone of voice
They didn't hire her at all. She read the book; when news of a film in production was announced, she just wrote it (at Long Pond, with Aaron Dessner to produce it). She wrote it in the middle of the night (like some of the other folklore/evermore songs) . She offered it to the film producers out of the blue -- they were stunned.

_Safe & Sound_
The song was recorded in 1 take and the production was made from instruments only available before/in 1950s or 1953, I think. And Taylor also said that this was already made in 2020 during Folklore era but was released late.

This honestly makes so much sense! The video/ font is 100% folklore, but the sound and lyrics reminded me a lot of “mad woman”. It’s haunting in the best way and so beautiful. I love that she’s uncovered a new way to story-tell through her newer voice techniques.

“she killed this in a way she exceeds my expectations” it’s TAYLOR SWIFT. there’s nothing she can’t do. this song is so similar to evermore vibes and that’s like indie folk with bits of country here and there in certain songs. this girl can do ANYTHING. country ! bubble gum type pop (1989) ! electro pop (rep) ! indie/folk acoustic type beat (folklore n evermore) ! there is NOTHING this woman can’t do. everything she does she does so flawlessly and effortlessly !!

@@thvf2381 music isn’t always about some catchy pop beat. Some people actually appreciate the lyrics and she sings pure poetry in this song. You could analyze her figurative language in school. “Carolina stains on the dress she left, indelible scars, pivotal marks, blue as the life she fled.” You just don’t see songwriting like that from A-list musicians.
@jankova0013
2 жыл бұрын
@@kenzieaarons5609 I agree but I think they meant (and what I think) is that it would be boring to get just this kind of music till we die. like she could release 50 albums if she want and that is a lot of albums for the exact same think. especially spread out during let's say 50 years :D like...I don't think that would even work for her. I don't mind this style and if she would think it would fit her then great but at the same time I kinda hope she will change it a bit (even tho evermore is much more country and I dig that) at least for some of the songs. Tbh I prefer her country/rock-pop sound the most yet.

@jankova0013 but still the singles from Speak Now and debut are totally mainstream directed, and the ones that weren't (back to december) were critically acclaimed but commercially were "just" there. For her standards.

You should definitely listen to folklore and transition into evermore!! She really has been exploring her lower register, fuller vice and airy tones in a way that would shock you if you haven't kept up and only remember her 1989 style of singing (still amazing, just different). Anyway, blondie always slays 💓💅🏾
I knew she could pull this sort of thing off, Safe and Sound from hunger games is one of my favourite songs of hers. This is HER STYLE!!
She has the same type of sound in folklore and evermore. Hauntingly beautiful
I'm always so happy to see you reacting to Taylor!! I feel that she's kind of an underrated vocalist, especially for her lower range, and it's nice to see you appreciating it. I do feel that her delivery is particularly impressing in this one. Since she writes all of her song (and I think that one is entirely self-written?), she can make it sound exactly the way she intented, and this song is maybe the height of that in what we've seen her do so far - though my tears ricochet could also take that title imo. I'm definitely looking forward to what she'll do next!
@Musicforever712

You are correct that this is entirely self-written. She also try to record this song with only instruments that existed pre 1960's.
you need to react to her 2021 grammys performance. it’s one of her best live performances i think and it really shows the range of her voice.

OMG YES
Her voice has matured so beautifully over the years. I'm so in love with her sound on this track.
Reese Witherspoon said she wrote this during Folklore and sent it to them. She knew they were making the movie and she read the book!
She’s been singing like this for awhile (folklore/evermore) the 4:30 min version of this song is even better
I Think we don’t value the low range as much as we could people always get praise for having really amazing high ranges but the low range is also as important and I like it more a lot of the time
Hey Tristan! Love it! Wanted to tell you there is a longer version that is the better of the two. If you notice, this version doesn’t have a bridge, her signature writing style. But the longer version doesn’t really have a bridge either, but it has a segment in the middle that serves the purpose of a bridge. Nice reaction! Yes, we call this phase in the Forrest or the Folklorian Forrest.
Tristan there's a longer version that showcases more of her vocals. I hope you check it out some other time!
her voice is enchanting
you listened to folklore right? she already uses this sound in it, even more in evermore
You should’ve listen to the full version of this song. During the bridge section there’s one line where she goes really really low and deep. It gives me chills everytime.
This song gives me the vibe of The Hanging Tree from The Hunger Games, the deep and obscure atmosphere maybe? It’s gets you

Full on chills, amazing 💗
I wish you reacted to the longer version!!! There is a section in the longer one and her vocals are AMAZING.
she wrote this in the middle of the night after reading the book. it was wrote when she was writing Folklore. When she heard they were making a movie (her and Reese Witherspoon are also friends and she is involved with the movie) she sent this them song she had already written and they loved it!
carolina is the modern-day Safe & Sound and i’m here for it
Been waiting for this one haha
If you enjoyed her voice in this song you'd love some of the songs from Folklore and Evermore. Cowboy Like Me, Hoax, No Body No Crime, and Ivy are a few of my favorites.
I really loved this song

Wow dang this is beautiful.
I feel like this song would be out in a movie or a series is sounds so good
Tristan really loved that blank space videos😂whenever he reacts to taylor,it is mentioned once or twice
taylor swift is queen
I would love Taylor to explore more of this vocal tone & her lower register!! So good
are you, are you coming to the tree… love the vibes
The best to describe this song is a sad evermore seven. They actually didn’t hire her. She wrote this song on her own during folklore/evermore era without being asked after reading the book and then she wrote a letter and offered it to movie. They thought it was beautiful and loved it. She also did this all in one take.
1:44 when tristan puts on both his earphones u know it's good
i’m not sure if u listened to folklore and evermore but she uses a similar technique and lower register when singing it’s amazing.
This song is so haunting. I have listened to it over and over. One of her best songs. It gives me chicken skin every time. She needs to do more this style.
She gets better and better.
Time to listen (and maybe react) to more of her recent music Tristan, it has the same vibes :)

the song is so haunting and gives me lana del rey vibes it’s so beautiful. fun fact: the song was recorded in one take and only consists of instrumentals that existed before 1953 in theme to the age the movie is set in!🤍

exactly what i was thinking!!
Yes in a long conversation on her birthday regarding Folklore and Evermore she made a comment about wanting to stay in the woods but realized at some [oint she had to return from them. I'm very thrilled that in this song she allows all to see she can return when wants to.
You should've reacted to the longer version it has some extra notes there a very low one and a high one too
Would love to see you react to The Midnight's new song Heartbeat ❤️
4:40 i think she have done that before on evermore, that one very low note on 'happiness' is an example.
Is it weird that the moment Tristan paused on that "alone I come" I know already that he'll make that joke? Lol
She's a talented girl.. she's maturing an growing which we all do ⚘
“I come alone all the time as well” …..tristan…….
Thanks for checking this out. I hope you have a wonderful day young man!!!
