Morissette is the voice of her generation IMHO. She is probably the most analysed singer in KZread at least by vocal coaches young and old, from fresh coaches to the more experienced ones from different parts of the globe. She is phenomenal👍

Morissette can adjust her voice depending on the genre she's singing. She sings ballads, jazz, rock, r&b, theatre..🙂👍

Actually, the whistle on the last part was not in the studio version of this song. She made that adlib in that bus only.

Not only is Morissette a brilliant songstress with incredible control & vocal range, but she speaks multiple languages fluently.

Try watching the 2017 Asia Song Festival performance of Morissette. Just to take you away from the Wishbus for a moment. You'll see her perform on stage and I'm pretty sure it'll blow you away too.

I've seen seemingly hundreds of these reaction videos from different people, singers, vocal coaches, music producers and the likes regarding this performance by Morissette and you're the first one I saw to actually have the sense to time how long she was able hold her breath/note from the "Giliw" part up to the keychange/belt part all the way to the surprising whistle register. Kudos to you. And more amazing was the last part of her song which was even longer....

Tagalog(Filipino) language is very soft that's why we can speak practically all letters and languages. Mori can do anything about music.... She changes the quality and tone of her voice based on the song. This is a love ballad. You don’t need growls and rasp in a love ballad. Where as in “rise up” she used a more aggressive tone, growls rasp etc etc she can sing Broadway, R&B, pop, rock country, gospel, OPM and adapts her vocal characteristics based on the genre of song. Dear Zara, you were so impressed with her singing with 1 breath the first time that you missed the 2nd time after that. You stopped the video in the middle of it so you missed it. PLEASE watch again without stopping & you will see after the 1st whistle that she does the 1 breath again. On another note, I just discovered an Acapella group I would love for you to react to. You're right. She was a bit under the weather in her Rise Up performance. She was actually supposed to do it with a whistle in the end. You should check that version though in Love Gala Night. 🔥

She not long ago released a version of “ Jesus take the wheel “ which is a Carrie Underwood song.this version is done at home with just a microphone and music and I tell you it is amazing beyond words. I promise you won’t regret it ❤️😊

Fun Fact: Morissette can sing all her whistle tones with her mouth closed. From what I have gathered in two years of watching her sing, Morissette can sing whatever style that she wants whenever she wants to. I've heard her sing almost a whole song without hearing any vibrato, I've also heard her put vibrato on at the very end of notes. She can pretty much do whatever she wants whenever she wants to. She is a little bitty thing at 5'1" tall. But what a voice. She is the best going anywhere. She goes longer at the end, 17-20 seconds. Morissette the new queen of music.

She was sick during Rise Up hence the raspiness. Also the Akin Ka Na Lang climax was even longer than 14 seconds.

Since you asked, she was sick when she sang rise up. If you're talking about her growls, she has a rocky very wild side aswell ;)

I think it's mostly due to Morissette's performance of "Akin Ka Na Lang" that she is also known as the Filipino Mariah Carey for the style/technique of singing. Mainly her whistle notes ;)

That isn't a neutral accent. It's the Filipino accent, more specifically Tagalog accent. We only have five basic vowel sounds, a e I o u, no variations. That's the way we speak, that's the way we sing. All in all, you did a wonderful reaction and analysis. Thank you.
