I'm Finnish, and I'm so happy we chose this song. It's a song about a socially awkward and serious guy finding the courage to hit the dance floor after a few drinks, and being himself and enjoying life even if he isn't much of a dancer.

Oh thats kind of sad really? Needing alcohol to be "yourself"😥 In a post pandemic Europe with war around the corner, increasing alcoholism is a huge and serious problem. Alcohol promotion doesn't feel so fresh.

I have to say too - Finland is one of the most friendliest places and the people are awesome. Some of my best friends now are Finns who I initially met on the streets of Helsinki, waiting in queues or at a pub quiz etc. There is a social introversion going on in their brains in a sense but its more of an okayness with quietness and lack of using filler words when expressing things (at least in English 😄)

One of the biggest factors in Eurovision success is to stand out. With 26 songs in 90 minutes, even the best singer or the best song can get lost in the mix if there's loads of similar songs. But absolutely nobody is going to forget *this*

"It's mental, but I quite like it" was literally my first reaction to this song, now I can't stop listening to it 😂. FYI, the song is basically about going to a bar/club after an exhausting work week, and becoming progressively drunker and more confident as the night goes on. The bit where he begins singing rather than shouting is when he has effectively become a different person because of his newfound confidence from the alcohol. One of the lines in the Post-Chorus when it changes loosely translates as "And this world ain't making me scared no more"

@@evipevi1973 Actually it is quite the opposite. Käärijä himself asks, why cannot you be yourself and do what you want to do without booze? That is the deep meaning of this song. On surface it is just happy partysong. It is also criticism of the social norms where men needs to be the tough, serious, no-nonsense type of persons while inside they just wanna dance and have fun.
I think he will do very well. Probably only Loreen can give him a run for his money, but my vote goes to him. This is all we need, some crazy fun in these times. I also love the way he talks. He is quite insecure regarding his English, but it makes him very adorable and cute. Would love to see Finland win it. Go Kaarija!

Except it isn't fun. It's horrible. It's not good music. And the juries will kill it.
This song does exactly what he sings about: finding a moment of happiness where you can free yourself from worries, expectations, the outside shell you show others and just be yourself, even if it's just for a short moment. When I watch this, it does exactly that, it makes me laugh and be happy for a moment. I love it, it's exactly what I needed and I will be voting for this because it's maybe not the most amazing big budget staging etc but it is the most genuine and lovable entry I might have ever seen. I absolutely adore this song and the human that performs it. Also, I'm living for this chaos and can't get enough of it.
You’ve got to admit this brings a huge smile on your face every time 😂

Yes - this is what Europe needs right now! If Putin's next-door neighbour can bring out a happy banger of a song like this, there's hope for us all to be happy 😄. Käärijä for the win - and the first ever win for a Finnish-language song, too!
He could be the winner!!!! Second in the betting odds. He’s the one that could topple Loreen?!
It's my winner for sure!
Loreen is probably going to walk ESC this year, but this is my favourite and possibly a Televote winner. It's absolutely mental in all of the best ways, super catchy, and is so well staged. I am a huge fan. Finland is such an underrated country musically. Sweden gets a lot of the limelight when it comes to the nordics but I do think that what the Finns are putting out right now is just so good - their national final, UMK, was just fire this year from start to finish

It makes me happy, in this minutes I forget all my problems🤣. Probably it's not only the song, it' s the great personality of the singer, Karijaa is a great performer. @SylvieTheCuteSylveon

Actually, in my interpretation it is both a nudge on Finnish's socially timid personality and their drinking culture. In Finland, people tend to be very shy and introverted, so when drinking alcohol, it's a way for them to "loosen up" in a sense when you are drunk out of your mind. And drinking is still quite a popular thing in Finland to celebrate or to hang loose with your friends there. So this song is not really a sad song in any way to me, it's literally "Let's get effed up on alcohol and have fun" type of song

@@SylvieTheCuteSylveon I don't will say it's a sad song, but this detail of the lyrics is what I find sad. Yes, it's the drinking culture not only in Finland. Introvert people find help in alcohol in order to be more extrovert and that's sad. I know, alcohol sticks so much in our culture ( I think in all europe) that it's difficult to find the sad part of this. Anyway, we don't need to analyse the song so much, " it's crazy, it's party"🤣, that's the best.

I am totally crazy over this song. There are better ones this year, I guess. There are songs with better composition, better vocals. Whilst the song mentions having a few drinks after a rough week to relax and let loose, the deeper meaning is the battles that we all feel to let go and express ourselves in our own unique way and the fight we have internally to break free from who we think we should be ! Absolutely love this song and cannot wait to see it live in Liverpool in a few weeks
Expect this to probably win the televote! Finland are going to do well this year and rightly so it’s fabulous!

This is one of my favourite songs in ESC this year. I love when a song really represents the country it's from - and this, to me, speaks volumes about Finland. It tells me something about Finland and its people - and in that I think it's perfect for ESC.
This type of pallet in Finland is called Eurolava. Lava means also a stage to perform on, so Käärijä is performing on 'Euro stage'. A bit of word play that Finns understand.
so catchy song!!
He is winning the televote and Loreen the Jury.
It's mental but I like it. That's how everyone feels about it I guess 😂 actually in the beginning when he's aggressive, it's about him being pissed, getting off work, wanting to go to the pub and get drunk - and then when it's becoming more melodic, he's actually drunk and getting on the dancefloor like a cha Cha cha.
"This is mental, but I quite like it" U kinda capsulized everybody's thoughts when listening to this for the fist time! Cheers from Finland!
This was THE anthem of Eurovision 2023. Go Finland!
