ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

Have a great day!!

I laughed at "look at what he's wearing". That's the guy who popularised wearing leather, bolts and chains on stage. Then, when he cut his hair, he made it socially acceptable to be a short-haired metal musician. Then, when he came out of the closet, he made it socially acceptable (in most metal circles where it hadn't been before) to be an openly gay metal musician. He might be the biggest trend-setter in heavy metal. At least NWOBHM.

"And look what he's wearing..." Funny you should say that. Rob Halford was the one who *invented* that look for metal bands. Before him, they all dressed like hippies, pretty much--billowy shirts, bell bottoms, etc. Then one day Halford--a then-closeted gay man--decided he should borrow fashion elements from the leather daddy look, and everyone copied him.

Decades ago, Judas Priest released a live album called, "Unleashed in the East." which features some of the finest power rock ever recorded. Rob's voice was perfect and wailing above the unbelievably loud and perfect guitar, bass and drums. It is truly one of the finest live albums ever recorded. The transitions between the Green Manalishi, the Ripper and Diamonds and Rust are Rock and Roll heaven. There is a song called Victim of Changes with the line ,"she was beautiful, when she was mine." that will never ever leave my soul. Incredible.

I just spent 15 minutes trying to find a specific recording on KZread and I can't find it. I might have to figure out how to digitize this myself. The VHS version of the Priest...Live! contains a version of Desert Plains that is absolutely mind blowing. I remember thinking that the band was trying to give a different experience to each format available at that time because both had different examples of The Metal God blowing the PA's up with his voice. On the CD it's Love Bites. On the VHS, it's Desert Plains. Although I've heard Love Bites many more times, I think my favorite moment is Desert Plains. It's hard to find, but worth the effort. If you want to be blown away by Halford's voice on studio versions, my two first suggestions would be Dreamer Deceiver on Rocka Rolla or Blood Red Skies on Ram it Down. Epitaph on Sad Wings of Destiny and Before the Dawn on Hell Bent for Leather are just plain beautiful. I could go on. I think the host did Dreamer Deceiver but it was a heavily cut BBC live version. She hasn't done a true Metal God performance and I truly hope she does.

He is so calm, but emotional and powerfull as well. This performance realy takes you away to the place he wants you to be. I dont know how to explain this correctly but i hope you get the point! @jabuhrer1

    3 жыл бұрын

Right on, Joan Baez's original is wonderful (that whole album is, really). I recall Halford saying that Joan told him she loved the cover, and that her son was a Judas Priest fan. Of course that was referring to the *original* JP cover, which was faster and more hard rock sounding. Old heads like me remember it from Sin After Sin and Unleashed in the East. This version is more like the arrangement they did with Ripper in the 90's as heard on Live Meltdown. Ripper did an astonishing job on that...take a listen if you haven't heard it. He really deserves some credit for developing this version of the song, and for helping keep the band going during those years!

This is a fantastic cover, and Metal Gods covering Joan Baez came as a complete surprise back in the day. Rob has a great voice, but this song only really shows of his softer side, he is best known for being one of the kings of power belting (right up there with Bruce and Ronnie.) You definitely need to check out some of Priest's heavier stuff too.

I'd argue that the Epitaph version comes close. Half soft, half heavy, best of both worlds.

You should react to Rob Halford’s performance on “Love Bites,” from their Judas Priest Live CD. He hits some unreal high notes during that performance.
