in korean you attach the '-ie/-i' sound at the end to address someone. for instance, if i used jimin's name in a sentence i would add ie (jiminie ga meosjida - jimin is cool). so the name hobi came from his stage name, jhope. the members would shorten that name to just 'hope', and in korean the 'ie' is just naturally added in sentences, and so the name hopie was created. in korean p/b sound pretty similar, and all of that combined birthed hobi, his nickname

The only thing I can think of adding onto this is that ARMY calls him that too, but that's no secret. It's also based on how you address people in Korean. For example the maknaes will sometimes say Hobi hyng because JHope is older. Where as we also see Jin and some of the other call him Hoba because they're older or the same age. The rule with attaching something such as hyung to someone's name is if their name doesn't end with a vowel you attach the ie sound in Korean his name wouldn't end in a vowel because it's spelled 제이홒.

Nickname of J-hope is Hobi (Hopie) It’s like when they’re talking about eachother they add i/ie like: Jiminie, Jungkookie, Seokjinie, Taehyungie etc It’s also not about them wearing so much makeup, but their makeup-artists are correcting and fixing their makeup very often. Also their stylists are fixing their clothes, like stroking wrinkles etc. Anyway love your reaction !

To my understanding the being (overly) proud saying goies literally something as "you have your shoulders high/ up in the sky" or something like that - that was what they were talking with J-hope's jacket. Jacket with the exaggarated shoulders make him look shovy - proud - but not in a bad way because other's seem to think, with him, it is well earned - and they all wanted to wear the jacket because it made him first, and hopefully them also, look so good.
