According to Aurora, the french theme is entirely deliberate. This was recorded at an old Chateux/Castle that many, many years ago was owned by a frenchman who favoured singing and the arts. So its a homage to that man.

That sounds very plausible. They did put up a studio for her in an old baroque chateau called Baroniet (The Barony) in Rosendal (Valley of roses). A beautiful, picturesque site by the Hardanger fjord in West Norway (With a famouse rose garden), surrounded by mythical mountain peaks and forrest landscapes. This was in 2020 when she recorded the album.

Definitely sounds like medieval French. It’d have been cool if they sang it in Middle French rather then modern, but I understand why they didn’t. Glad I speak French and can finally listen to Aurora singing it, WITH Pomme !

If you like her, I highly recommend : - the « Je ne suis pas dupe » video she made for Quai Baco - her « Umbrella » cover for Le Cargo - all her guest appearances on Waxx’s channel She also went full medieval, duetting with Cecile Corbel on « Entre Ses Bras »

Nice reaction 🤩 On a livestream by Pomme, Aurora further recounted how their collaboration came to be: "I made my album in a castle in Norway, and it has French history. And this man lived in this castle like hundreds of years ago, and he was French, Marcus Gerhard. And he loved art and music and he celebrated and invited people [...] and I thought it would be a nice way to honour this French castle by having you.” Aurora later explained to Apple Music: "I don't normally do features. I knew a bit about [Pomme] because she's extremely sweet and very talented. I wanted to include some Frenchness on the opening song as a gift to the castle that gave me a lot of the inspiration to finish this album. I asked her if she could write the ending of my song in French, and she wrote a beautiful story about the flowers we picked in all of your favourite places. It is an ode to Baroniet (Baroness) Rosendal."

There’s good singers and then there’s great singers and then there’s Aurora who’s in a class of her own head and shoulders above anyone else she simply is the essence of what the art of music should be all about, as a songwriter she is outstanding her lyrics are just poetry for the soul never do you get the same old cliches and lyrics like your mainstream music that churn out lyrics time after time just to please record companies she always stays true to herself and what she believes in.music to her goes deeper it’s a medicine for everyone she calls her songs her little children and the love she puts into them is clearly there for all to see it’s the reason why they have touched so many people and brought such a comfort, she is so special artist’s like Aurora do not come around that often and I’m just blessed to have her music her children in my life she simply is a Genius ❤️🍎❤️🍎❤️

Thank you for the review and recognizing the uniqueness of Aurora’s composition amongst today’s homogenous pop. Her voice often gains the most attention but her song writing and her self-taught musicality are equally engaging. She contributed her vocals and ideas for vocal arrangements on Sondre Lerche’s recent release “Alone in the Night”. It would be great to hear your thoughts about his song and their vocals, especially Aurora’s harmonies which were intentionally subtle to enhance such a beautiful song about loneliness and loss.

Great reaction Beth (as always). I’m also addicted to this song, I can’t get enough of this amazing song composition, their perfect harmonies, the voices perfect blending but with some lovely contrast. I would like to give a few more information and some song recommendations about Pomme. Pomme is a french singer, she is 25yo, and was born a few weeks later than Aurora. She is a total package: - amazing voice, you only scratched the surface of it in this song, she can go higher than what you suspect from this song - great songwriter with deep and meaningful lyrics, in a poetic way, and themes very similar to Aurora’s. For instance , her songs are often referring to the nature and earth elements but as a way to describe the internal state of minds or emotions, she is impressionist in a sense I would say. - she is an amazing musician and pkays many different instruments. Her favorites are guitar and autoharp but she also plays cello, piano, vocoder, … - for her composition, she is very influenced by the folk (Joan Baez) and the french classics (Barbara). She really makes simple but beautiful melodies with splendid acoustics composition. She is starting to becoming a big name on the musical scene and is about to release her 3rd album. Her 2nd won the Best France Album award in 2020 and she was elected the Best France Female Artist in 2021. Billie Eilish told on a radio she is a total fan of her and asked Pomme to call her. Julia Stone invited her on the Australia Fire album in 2020 and she did a splendid cover of Big Jet Plane with her autoharp. I would recommend for your next reactions to Pomme (any of these is great, but this is my personal rank list): - Les Oiseaux kzread.info/dash/bejne/mqSC1q9-XciWiLw.html - La lumière kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJN5ktKqlsKupJM.html - Les cours d'eau kzread.info/dash/bejne/rHxrl7ixhqa1h5s.html - Une minute kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqOLqq6YZ6iYobA.html - On brûlera kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4d11aWCqdOfYLw.html - Les Sequoias kzread.info/dash/bejne/g5ds0qyodpDbmMo.html - Anxiété kzread.info/dash/bejne/aYOGtdGdc6mwh8o.html - Grandiose kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYmOz9OeebrKY7Q.html - Soleil Soleil kzread.info/dash/bejne/fKJ3q7iwoLzekps.html - Adieu mon Homme kzread.info/dash/bejne/iH2BvLmSc9Xgo5M.html - Ceux qui rêvent kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmt82KhrgLjIhrQ.html as well as a few covers: - Big Jet Plane: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5eNr7uLaKmamMo.html - Göttingen kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpympKuHe9i6dZc.html - Umbrella kzread.info/dash/bejne/e3lppsSncc7IYdo.html - Can't help falling in Love kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2iWppOKnr3Lk6w.html Bad Guy kzread.info/dash/bejne/a6CX2tyTk6SshKg.html

Pomme is really a folk music fan. One of her idol is Joan Baez, her guitar songs are very folk inspired and she plays autoharp since she was 14yo, this is an instrument that was only popular with folk musicians from the Appalachian mountains region. So i am not surprised of this connection they have.

The comparison with Michel Legrand's music like "les moulins de mon coeur" appears quite true to me too...There's something like that indeed, in that Aurora's song, retro and wistful, with just a touch of electronic sounds & beats of 2022 on it...It's very beautifully written & crafted by the mix and match of the voices and the instrumentation...
